After seeing the Power Rangers Zeo popsicles advertised on the ice cream truck and reporting about it in the newsletter, I have done everything to get one. I always miss the ice cream man and when he's there, I don't have money. For the last week, I have kept two dollars in my pocket in case I heard his wonderful song. (Here it's "Do Your Ears Hang Low?") Many of the members reported that they have purchased the ice cream and mentioned the gumball in it. Grace Trias (GRTrias@aol.com) informed me that her dad and her were in the car when the ice cream man drove by. Her dad saw the Power Rangers Zeo pops advertised and honked his horn until the ice cream man stopped. I found this very funny...until it happened to me. It was June 30th, and my mom was driving home from Wendy's (She was going to L.A. and she had to get me lunch) and as we were pulling in our driveway, we saw the ice cream man turn the corner. My mom said "You missed him again!" and I go "Honk, Mom! Stop him. Grace's dad managed to get the ice cream man to stop". So, my mom honked the horn and yelled "Stop!" and the truck did indeed stop. My mom gave me two dollars (I had left mine inside, for the first time) and I ran out. I saw the sign that said they sold for $1.00. I asked the lady for a Power Rangers Zeo pop but handed her two dollars, so she asked "Two?" I said "Yes -- red and blue please." But, the guy there said "You can't pick the flavors". I only wanted two different flavors because I thought the wrappers would be different, but the two popsicles I was given were wrapped in the same wrapper. I did a flying leap across the yard and shouted "I finally caught the ice cream man! I got Power Rangers Zeo pops!" (Yes, I really did that). And, then I put them in the freezer to try for later. About 4:00 p.m., after my mom had left, I pulled one out and gave it a try. Looking at the wrapper, I found out everything that I needed to know (and more). The blue wrapper with white dots in the back looked like there was a burrito inside. It had the "Saban's Power Rangers Zeo" logo on the front with Zeo Ranger I, II, V, III, and IV above it. It also mentioned "With Bubble Gum Treat" and that it was "Cherry & Lemon Flavored Ice With A Bubble Gum Ball (Artificial Flavor & Color Added)" and that it was a product of Saban Entertainment and Good Humor - Breyer's Ice Cream. The ingredients listed that the ice was made of water, sugar, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, guar gum, carbohydrate gum, locust bean gum, artificial and natural flavors, citric acid, Yellow 5, pectin, Red 40, Blue 1, karava gum. The gum ball was made of sugar, dextrose, corn syrup, chewing gum base, artificial flavor, tapioca dextrin, carnauba wax, resinous glaze, Yellow 5 & 6, Blue 1, Red 3. The nutrition fact chart informed me that there were 100 calories per piece, 0g of Total Fat, 0g of Sodium, 25g of Total Carbohydrate, 20g of Sugars, and 0g of Protein. I peel the wrapping open to reveal a sloppy, slanted, unattractive popsicle in the shape of the Red Zeo Ranger's head and stomach, drenched in red, with yellow stripes. In the center of his chest was a yellow gumball with the Power Rangers lightning bolt symbol on it. The stick read "Go Go Power Rangers", on both sides, but in opposite directions. I take my first bite. My first thoughts are that it's cold, and it tastes strawberry- cherryish. And, although it's soft and mushy, it still hurts your teeth. I recognize the taste from the orange, red, and yellow Big Stick -- this is closer to an imitation Big Stick though. After finishing off most of the head, I bite down on some wood and realized that was where the stick began on the other side. Finally, I bite down to a yellow "stripe" where you can actually taste the difference in flavor -- it's gone from strawberryish to a sourish yet juicy lemon. Finally, I get down to the last bite and as I bite in, the popsicle goes flying and uses my shirt as a safety bound. It rolls down my shirt, leaving it a total mess. After putting the popsicle on some nearby newspaper (I'm not going to ruin the wrapper, which is nearby), running over to the sink, and cleaning my shirt with cold water and soap and getting out the stain, I return to the popsicle. All that's left is the gumball and the bits of popsicle still on it. I bite into the gumball. Because it's frozen, it breaks instantly, into many hard pieces. It's difficult to chew and almost impossible to make a good-sized bubble. Finally, the popsicle is completed. Still chewing on the gum, I notice that my lips and teeth are stained red. Then, I begin to ponder what I had just scarfed down. On a scale from one to ten, I'd give this popsicle a six. It's not the best popsicle I've ever eaten, but it's not the worst either. It's very fruity, but it loses points for being sloppy and way too frozen. The only advice I have to those eating is be careful while trying to get the gumball. ;) Hmm....I wonder if I can sue Saban for the mess on my shirt... ************************************************************************** **** NICE TO MEET YOU E-MAIL ADDRESS: janiceks@nol.net REAL NAME: Brock Janicek BIRTHDATE: 2/28/87 CURRENT RESIDENCE: Houston, TX FAVE EPISODE: All of them FAVE QUOTE: "I'm a frog!" ************************************************************************** **** SABAN SIGHTINGS! -- On an episode of Bobby's world called "Karate Bobby", Bobby went to a friend's house to watch the "Karate Ducks" (which Uncle Ted did an impression of). -- On "Party of Five", Claudia and Ross were eating Cap'N Crunch Berries and I was thinking about the box of Crunch Berries I bought just for the Power Ranger Megazord Watch available on the back. And, then I saw the same ad and the MMPR symbol on the back of the box that Claudia and Ross were eating out of. -- There's a comic called "Crankshaft", about a disgruntled, senior-citizen bus driver. Ed (Crankshaft) always makes it incredibly hard to get onto the bus, pulling away and not stopping if somebody's chasing the bus. As one may imagine, he's made a few enemies. He's gotten himself in the situation of being the star of a local carnival's "Dunk-The-Bus Driver" game. His shift is almost over, and he hasn't gotten dunked once. However, up to the game strolls somebody in a baseball uniform. It's revealed that this is a girl, in her late teens-early 20's, and incredibly tough. Her name is Amy Johnson. * Thanks to TCNSteltk@aol.com for this ************************************************************************** **** DID YOU KNOW .... the Gold Ranger will premiere on the 180th episode, with a new Gold Ranger song? That's just five episodes away! .... that there is going to be a Power Rangers ZEO Super Nintendo video game, where you can be either the good guys or the bad guys and you have to race? You also get to choose your vehicle, and the Gold Ranger is in it! * Thanks to MooTant@aol.com for this info., which he got from Nintendo Power. .... that Walter Jones is missing his middle finger on his left hand, and only has nine fingers? * Thanks to KibaRanger@aol.com for this info., which has become somewhat of an overused fact in the newsletter. Sorry for not giving credit in the last issue, Drew! .... that Marx Okman was also the first to tell you Amy Jo's engagement? .... that there used to be a Sega CD game called "Masked Rider: Kamen Rider Z.O."? It was a full-motion video game where you make decisions for Masked Rider, and it used all Japanese footage, including the Japanese actor who originally played Kamen Rider. * Thanks to jrovang@netcom.com for this info. .... that the Power Ranger ZEO Cardzillions are now out at Toys R Us? ************************************************************************** **** TOP TEN LIST Here they are -- the top ten reasons I need more Top Ten Lists... 10. I'm sick of racking my brain to figure something for the Top Ten List. 9. Nobody cares about the Top Ten flavors of ice cream the Rangers prefer. 8. David Brown, who has written the majority of the lists, can not manage to write all of them. 7. I need something to fill this column. 6. Nobody cares about the Top Ten magazines that have articles on Power Rangers. 5. Most of you guys have time to do something for the NL -- so try it! 4. Nobody cares about the Top Ten brands of Band-Aids the Power Rangers use! 3. Top Ten Lists help me to know more about you -- so write them! 2. I don't like members to print out the newsletter and put a big X over the quickly- written Top Ten List. And, the number one reason I need more Top Ten Lists is... NOBODY WANTS TO READ A TOP TEN LIST ABOUT WHY MAX NEEDS MORE TOP TEN LISTS. ************************************************************************** **** STRETCH Here are the results for "Pink Floyd" 3RD PLACE -- Pink Floyd has a song called "Don't Need No Education", about not getting an education and still coming out on top. The Power Rangers didn't get much of an education and they still came out on top. -- Anthony Alario Jr 2ND PLACE -- Rita and Zedd's palace was on the dark side of the moon, and "The Dark Side of the Moon" is a Pink Floyd song. 1ST PLACE -- Pink Floyd is a band well-known for excellent guitar work. The original Pink Ranger, Kimberly, is also known for great work on MMPR. -- Bricks Winzer MY STRETCH: The episode "Another Brick in the Wall" was titled after Pink Floyd's song of the same name. (Not much of a stretch but you see what I mean...) Today's stretch word is "telephone". ************************************************************************** **** CAST LIST researched by Marx Okman (marxokman@aol.com) Austin St. John -- Jason Lee Scott Thuy Trang -- Trini Kwan Walter Jones -- Zack Taylor Amy Jo Johnson -- Kimberly Hart David Yost -- Billy Cranston Jason David Frank -- Tommy Oliver Johnny Yong Bosch -- Adam Park Karan Ashley (Karan Ashley Jackson) -- Aisha Campbell Steve Cardenas -- Rocky DeSantos Catherine Sutherland -- Katherine "Kat" Hillard Nakia Burrise -- Tanya Sloan Richard Genelle -- Ernie Henry Cannon -- Mr. Caplan Royce Herron -- Ms. Appleby Gregg Bullock -- Lieutenant Stone Richard Lee Jackson -- Jeremy in "The Rockstar" Maxxe Sternbaum -- Young Kimberly in "Rangers Back In Time" Sicily (Sicily Sewell) -- Young Aisha in "Rangers Back In Time" and Alien Rangers Matthew Sakimoto -- Young Adam in "Rangers Back In Time" and Alien Rangers Michael J. A: To promote his upcoming movie. (CONFIRMED) Q: Does David wear contact lenses? In "Graduation Blues", Billy's contacts fell out and I wanted to know if that really happened and Saban decided to keep and use the scene? If not, why was it there? -- tzm@monroe.ny.frontiercomm.net A: No, David doesn't need glasses and therefore, does not wear contact lenses. That scene was put in because some of the producers from the Net heard some Billy fans requests to see Billy in his glasses again, and since it was supposed to be Billy's last episode, they wanted to give them their request. Q: What does Zeo stand for? -- BlazeM@aol.com A: Zordon's Odyssey (Z.O.). It was later changed to Zeo so it would be pronounced easier. Q: Do the actors and actresses know what episode they're introducing on "Blast From the Power Past", because it doesn't sound like it. -- BrazosBel@aol.com A: No, they don't. For example, Kimberly introduced an episode that sounded like "Bloom of Doom" (The bad guys can even ruin friendships) but it turned out to be "The Spit Flower". They make the intros. okay for any episode to be seen. Q: I heard Austin St. John will be the Red Ranger and not the Gold Ranger. A: No, Saban tried to trick us. Remember when Curtis wore black and Richie wore white and everyone (including me) suspected them of being Rangers? The producers are desperately trying to trick us by making him wear red and Tommy wear black, since I let this info. out. Q: How will they return Jason if the others are not going to be on? A: I heard (and I only *heard*) that the Machine Empire would be looking for someone to help them rule the Earth and they see Jason and use him. Q: Is the season over for Power Rangers Zeo? A: Reportedly, there will be more episodes coming out this month. Q: "Will there be another Masked Rider/Power Ranger crossover or do you know what's coming up on Masked Rider?" -- cgarrett@ecsu.campus.mci.net A: "Masked Rider" is canceled, so there won't be any more crossovers. It only has three more episodes until it's finished. The episode guide can be retrieved at my site under http://www.afn.org/~afn45072/mr-ep.txt ************************************************************************** **** THE PRZ BULLETIN BOARD If you have an announcement you'd like me to print, send it to "BULLETIN BOARD" at marxokman@aol.com! --- Today's quote is by Alpha in "Food Fight" and Evil Billy in "A Bad Reflection On You" --- VERY IMPORTANT: If anyone has "Unmasked Rider", the last episode of "Masked Rider" (where Patsy tries to find out about Dex's secret), please e-mail me at marxokman@aol.com as soon as you can. Last week's questions was "What weapon did Pursehead possess?" Everybody answered the mirror that froze the Rangers. However, I was talking about the stick with a fish head on it (I like to call it a fish stick). Both were correct. ************************************************************************** **** POWER RANGER B-DAY ANNOUNCEMENTS! Welcome to the PRZ Birthday Announcements!
