THE RANGERS GO TO SCHOOL Ever seen Power Rangers show up at your school? Well, they showed up at mine! First of all, a lot of kids are mean to me. Some kids are mean to *everyone* so I was afraid to talk about MMPR. But, I was talking to it about this kid who picks on everyone and he got really interested. Swarms of people crowded around us and they all talked about it. Turns out the kids had all seen "MMPR:TM" and loved when the frog sticks his tongue out or something. This is so weird since these are the people who are usually beating everyone up. One guy said "Kimberly is foi-ne! Man, if she weren't a Power Ranger, she'd be a supermodel! I'm tellin' ya, Man! She's my sister, ya know!" Another forced his friend to admit he saw the movie with him. "We saw Power Rangers on the same day as Mortal Kombat. They were both pretty good." And, furthermore, I talk about the show and most of them know what I mean. PLUS, in drama, I was talking about Kimberly (what do you think?) and a girl said "Yeah, but the Pink Ranger is Kat now!" I was like, "Whoa!" This girl always wears MMPR shirts but that's because MMPR is in (So is Sesame Street though) so I didn't think twice (However, everyone *did* say "Mark, she's wearing your shirt!"). Now, I've got a MMPR fan living at my school! Kewl! Anyway ... I have seen the Red Ranger and Pink Ranger at my school! I swear! In my fifth period drama class, I was sitting and kinda dozing off when I noticed, plugged in a socket, was a Red Ranger night light. Now, my drama teacher is very creative so she knows that MMPR is in (But, she has no Sesame Street anywhere) but I pointed it out to my friend and she said "Mark, she has your night light!" And, I was in the locker room, when I see (in the window of the PE teachers' lounge thingee) a Pink Ranger water bottle. It's shaped like the Pink Ranger's helmet and it has one of those suckie things at the top that pop out. I'm like, "What is going on? When did my *teachers* become MMPR fans?" All in all, my school is pretty cool. I can do my front kicks and kids cheer instead of sticking me in a trashcan. They think I take Tae Kwan Do. Jason Frank He has thick, flowing hair, a tender face and eyelashes long enough to set a Guinness record. But Jason Frank is no teen idol. He can't be. His fans are preschool. As any 4-year-old can tell you, Frank, 21, plays Tommy the White Ranger on the Fox phenom _Mighty Morphin Power Rangers_. Last year, Tommy lost his power, and Frank was about to be axed--until thousands of letters poured in to save him. Being admired by these young children, says Frank, "is cool." Until two years ago, though, Frank didn't even have the power to push through a casting agent's door. The son of Ray and Janice Frank, who operate a Covina, Calif., trucking company, Jason began auditioning for roles at age 12, but, he says, "I just never landed anything." He concentrated instead on martial arts and by 18 owned two karate schools. His black belt gave him the edge in his _Power Rangers_ audition. It was only later that Fox execs realized they had a hunk on their hands. "Visitors to the set go crazy when they see Jason," says his costar Karan Ashley, who plays the Yellow Ranger. "The little girls just scream. And I've seen 16-year-olds looking at him too. They say, 'Oh my God. What's he like?'" He is, like, married. Jason and wife, Shawna, 23, a homemaker, are the parents of 21-month-old Jacob. Perhaps as Frank outgrows the _Rangers_, adults will come to appreciate what children already do.
