This isn't exactly the mall now, is it?" No, my Dear! This is the 21st issue of the MMPR newsletter. Actually, it's sort of like the mall...you can get things here for free that would cost you over $500 in merchandise!!! Like a spotlight for the "Spotlight on Graeme Revell and Happy Waters", a tape recorder for the interview with Part II of the interview with the original Rangers, and about $50 for Justin's review on the Interactive game from Hollywood Online! Well...sit back, relax, and read along as you journey through this magical trip through PowerRangerLand. What's so magical about it? Well, today--Justin Harvey a.k.a. XSENTAIX --my new partner for the nl-- is doing the nl with me! Get ready 'cause two editors are better than one. JUSTIN'S INTO.: WOW ! I feel big now ! Hey everyone, this is Justin ( X SENTAI X ). Mark (Marx Okman ) has let me work on this issue with him. }:-P This issue, and the next two are gonna be very special. Issue 23 will be a big one ! Actually, Justin--the newsletters, just like shows, are set in seasons. Issues 1-22 are season one, and 23 will be the season premiere! In every season premiere, we have an exclusive interview...real interviews--not copies of ones--with the cast and crew of MMPR. The season premiere/series premiere had an interview with Mighty Raw...and we learned a lot about Ron. Who will the second season's interview be with? Wait and see.... Issues 21 and 22 are ganna be a little different. I'm gonna drop all of the normal POLLS and things of that nature and try something different. It will be continued in the next issue also. Any answers to the polls that I have been sent and not have printed will be in the 24th issue, where we're getting rid of about 50% of the polls.... WELCOME EVERYONE ! Back when Mark first told me about his idea for the nl, I thought it would stay close to the MMPR boards here on AOL...... WHERE DID EVERYONE COME FROM ?! Now there are about 80 people receiving this...but about 13 (10-15?) left so there was over 90 people who received this. I think it started with 10 people...so that's a lot! All of us seem to have ideas about MMPR. Some of us have ideas for new Rangers, some for monsters, most have storie ideas. WHAT IF each of us could change things that have happened on MMPR ? Would you ? We're gonna explore all of the wild possibilities of MMPR. This issue and the next will be full of YOUR ideas, so start writing. It dosen't need to be long, just enough to make the point. So, with that in mind, WELCOME to the 21 first issue of Jim Henson's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers newsletter ! I'm Justin ( Conrad ), the Green Ranger, who controlls the mighty Cermit Zord ! Oh no ! What has he done ?! You will see many things like that throughout this nl. ( Heather ... how about Pink Ranger ... Piggy Zord ! ) NOW ON SALE... My episode guide is now on sale...free! If you have AOL, I can attach the ep guide to mail....all you need to do is ask. If you have the Internet, then you have Terri Ann C.'s ep guide, so nothing to worry about. Thanx to Amanda Bolton for helping me out with this guide by doing some hard work (Rewinding and fastforwarding tapes--over and over and over again--just for me!) SPECIAL THANX... go to MooTant, Sbolton@nbnet.nb.ca, and the Herndons: MooTant took a survey: merchandice, books, guides, toys.... The Saber-Tooth Tiger is the winner (not Saber-Toothed Tiger). Survey Results: Saber-Tooth Tiger: 43 Saber-Toothed Tiger: 12 55? How much MMPR merchandise do you have? Anyway, Mousy99, Lunette, and Aharhel read "saber-toothed tiger" in the dictionary. But, on the show, what is it? Next time I pass Thuy on the street without saying hello, I'll remember to ask "Was that Saber tooth or saber-toothed?" Sbolton@nbnet.nb.ca worked really hard to make my day "brighter".... and her hard work helped me finish my episode guide, which is now available! And, the Herndons (Aharhel, Lunette339, and Mousy99) wrote me letters with a lot of useful MMPR info. Look for them all over future nls! COMMAND CENTER II Rick's Command Center II is back! E-mail redrng@aol.com for details on this online service with MMPR files, etc. Aren't we lucky? The MMPR sim/chat is coming up and the guy in charge of the sim is here! The chat is simply a chat about MMPR but we're only meeting in the chatroom and then we're going to the private sim room--we're not going to chat. :'-( Anyway, Justin...can you tell us about the MMPR sim? MMPR SIM This is it ! The moment you've all been waiting for. If you've ever wanted to be a part of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, you must read this article ! The MMPR sim ( Simulation ) is the biggest thing to hit AOL. YOU get a chance to play the role of any Ranger you want in a fight against evil. If you've ever had an idea for a new Ranger, this is your chance to test your skills. The Power Team is growing, and growing fast. There can be only 23 people in this sim, so don't miss out, let me ( X SENTAI X aka Justin ) know what Ranger OR villian you want to play. If you were at the last sim, it seemed easy to defeat Zedd's monster, but this time, this time it won't be easy, this time you won't win. What ?! Think I'm joking ?! Why don't you come and see. This sim will have it all, and some more. Make sure you don't miss out. The sim will take place this Sunday from 5:00 PST/8:00 EST. Make sure you know what time _you're_ supposed to come! Once you tell me you're in the sim, and what role you want, I'll give you all the info you need to know. NOTE FROM ZEDD - YOUR NINJETTI POWERS ARE NOTHING ! HAHAHAHAHAAA ! Send me a copy of the e-mail about the sim so I can keep track please. Just write: XSENTAIX, Marx Okman in the To: box and it will get to both of us! And, yes it's true. I'm playing Zedd. MMPR CLASSIFIED ADS This article is temporary...anyway, does anyone have any duplicates of MMPR cards? I've only bought three packs...and I'm supposed to collect them all?!? Yeah, right! Someone help me! If you've got any duplicates, tell me... And, if someone has the Entertainement Tonight interview on tape or Austin from the HBO movie he was in...tell me! Thanx a mil! --Mm__) THE ONLINE WELCOME MAT Let's give a big welcome to the eight new MMPR fans: A L Varney -- better known as CVAdam in disguise ;-) ceoneill@unity.ncsu.edu -- have know idea who he or she is. ;-) s.lively@genie.geis.com -- better known as darwnoneil in disguise ;-) Ltm4361 -- better known as Lance kosh@bighorn.accessnv.com -- better known as Todd McChurch Mesia13 -- don't know--I didn't do my homework! ;-) c.mikoluff@genie.geis.com -- Stephanie (DarwnONeil)'s friend! and AFeliberti -- Found him on the "Power Rangers sucks..." board, talking about how he liked his son to watch MMPR. Now, is that a father you'd love to have or what? YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT Last week's quote 1 was "He looks like a mindless mass of metal and glass." Of course, this was Billy when he looked in the Viewing Globe on "Lights, Camera, Action". Nuff said...no one got this right because the only people who got it correct got number 2 right too [Hoshiko466, STHJ, sbolton, Patri56297, the Herndons, MooTant, and KibaRanger] Quote 2 was Rita to Ticklesneezer. She said, "To Earth you'll go with your bottle in tow and when I say obey you'll do as I say." Hoshiko466 got it right first, then STHJ, sbolton, Patri, the Herndons, Mootant, and Kibaranger. That's it. Quote 2 is supposed to be challenging. Now it's time to challenge. Usually, I'll only put in one word...a whole line is too easy. Quote 1- When we get out of here, we are going to kick your sorry buns! Quote 2- (music:) "Things that are not from this earth, things that have no real worth...take them down!" --only want the episode TRIVIAL PURSUIT Last week's trivia question was who's record was Jason trying to break? Of course, it was Bulk on "A Pressing Engagement." Bulk started to wrestle Jason and said, "No one's going to break my record." Question: When Jason got to 1010, why did he stop? Didn't he just _tie_ Bulk's record? And, wouldn't he keep going so that he would start a better record? And, when Ernie lost count, why didn't he just ask one of the 100 of spectators what number Jason was on? Hoshiko466 got it right first, then STHJ, sbolton, patri, Herndons, and MooTant. Here is today's trivia question. DON'T CHEAT! If you do, you don't get any points! Take a guess...the points rack up. Trivia: Name three of the things that the Rangers put in the time capsule. Extra credit: Name all seven things from the time capsule, including all of the Rangers and two others (Hint: One of the items never got to the capsule, but it counts. Rita's picture does NOT count). You MUST tell who put what in. The first part is easy...if you just think about each of the Rangers and what they like to do.... Here is the scoreboard: ag216@freenet.toronto.on.ca: 2 points CVAdam: 1 point Herndons: 6 points Hoshiko466: 6 points KibaRanger: 3 points MooTant: 3 points Oshaun: 1 point Patri56297: 4 points STHJ@MARISTB.MARIST.EDU: 4 points XSENTAIX: 3 points Here's the deal...I can't afford prizes anymore! I will find a way to congradulate you...but not with money!!! Sorry bout this guys! I think the winners get to participate in the MMPR game show. If you don't have AOL, I don't know what you'll do though. The plan is to take the winners to a chat room and ask trivia and quote questions and stuff....and the winner will get one of the cheap prizes...instead of about 10 people. The game show will take place at the end of each "season". And, the game show is sent out as an extra for everyone to see! I just thought this up. It sounds fun, huh? Everyone can come and be spectators. I'll give more details later... STANDING IN THE SPOTLIGHT Today's spotlight is on Graeme Revell and Happy Waters. It comes from Hollywood Online, found on the Internet and on AOL (Keyword: Hollywood) GRAEME RAVELL (Music) has composed the scores for such motion pictures as "Hard Target," "The Crow," "The Crush," "The Basketball Diaries," "Tank Girl," "Hand that Rocks the Cradle," "Dean Calm" and "Until the End of the World." Revell has also worked in Australian television, and he has several album credits to his name. HAPPY WALTERS (Music Supervisor) is responsible for helping to launch the careers of Cypress Hill, House of Pain and Funkdoobiest, all of whom are handled by his management company, Buzztone Entertainment. He also started Immortal Records, Immortal Publishing and Sidewinder Entertainment. Walters soundtrack credits include the platinum-plus selling "Judgment Night," "Ready-to-Wear" and "Bad Boys," on which he paired the hottest alternative and hip-hop acts together to create original duets. Currently, Walters, through his Sidewinder Entertainment, a division concentrating on music supervision, soundtracks and motion picture productions, is supervising soundtracks for "The Scarlet Letter," "To Wong Foo" and "Things to Do In Denver." Other credits include "Blown Away," "Airheads" and "Love and a .45." Q: You know you've watched too much MMPR when... Your laugh is identical to Skull's [Jason's]. Everytime I laugh, it comes out that obnoxious "Ahahahahahahahhahaha...". --Mm__) Someone says "Uh-Oh". Your immediate response is "We're in trouble!" (sung in whiny english-australian accents) --Aharhel BTW, Aharhel, everytime I would usually say Uh-oh, instead I go "Uh-oh we're in trouble." I don't even think about it. But, that's what _I_ say instead of "Uh-oh". NOTE FROM JUSTIN--ABOUT KIBARANGER: KibaRanger ...... Everyone, if you have seen this name on the mailing list, you might wonder what this means. KibaRanger is the White Ranger in Japans Dai Ranger. Here is an update on the polls... [MAX'S NOTE: Age ain't nothin' but a number, Gal!] Next we'll hear from bryand@cadvision.com, Mousy99, Lunette339, and Aharhel. After we hear from Aharhel and maybe some other who wants to respond, this will probably be cancelled. Everyone says the same thing. I think it might be replaced with Best MMPR Experience/Worst MMPR Experience: Like my easy baby-sitting job and the guy who tried to make a speech and no one would listen to him. POLL 4- NOBODY'S PERFICT! If you're a new member, you've missed a lot of dumb mistakes. Because of old footage, MMPR goofs a lot on the script and stuff. Anything you noticed? Later on, I'll list all the mistakes! ;-) Next we'll hear from bryand@cadvision.com, XSENTAIX. POLL 5- WHO IS Marx Okman? Whenever you read a message from marxokman@aol.com, what picture goes through your mind? What do you think I look like? BTW, ag216 sent me her picture and it's really good! It's F-U-N-N-Y! And, when Bulk and Skull switch... MAX'S NOTE: What is so funny about the Wedding Part I? I don't remember it but Shuki wrote it so it must be funny. Wasn't that the one with Alpha. I think I'm going to change all these answers to "The Emperor's New Clothes" starting next time because they're the same thing, I guess. We want you " WHAT IF " MMPR stories....you know, like what if Bulk and Skull were Rangers, if Green Ranger stayed evil, if the Raners defeated Zedd and Rita forever, if Bulk and Skull remembered who the Rangers were after ( that light monster...something brain. What was it Mark? ) was defeated.......We'd love to read them. Please send you " What if " stories to X SENTAI X, Marx Okman, AND AMI REE [Scatterbrain, Justin! The one with the funky bellbottoms and the kaleidoscope head, btw, for all of you who forgot...I think Scatterbrain took over Justin--ha ha, get it?] For all of you who have been watching the show since the first episode, what do you think it would have been like if Tommy was the Red Ranger and Jason was the Green Ranger ? First of all, I might have been turned off the color Green. And Curtis or Ricky might have been the White Ranger ....... Let's make this a poll. Tell me what you think would have happened. The longer stories (I hope) will be posted in Ami Ree's MMPR zine. Mousy has some poems she will submit, Heather (when she finds them)...the zine is going to be cool!!! QUESTION FROM MOUSY99: Is it just me or does Violet look like Lisa Loeb? MAX'S ANSWER: Yes! Yes! She does! I think she guest-starred! In the first version (without editing) when Billy started ignoring her, she goes, "You say, you only hear what you want to...Billy, stay!" HA HA...STOP! MY SIDES ARE ACHING! Here are the responses to the joke, "Why did [Ranger] walk into a bar?" The responses: "Why did Aisha walk into a bar? She had her eyes closed." --Aharhel & Mousy "Why did Jason walk into a bar? Well, he never had a girlfriend on the show, he had to meet her someplace else." -Lunette "Why did Kimberly walk into a bar? She wasn't near the vault. (Get it? Gymnastic bars!) --Mm__) Here's Dave Bryan's joke of the day: What did Tommy get when he went to the hospital for an operation? Mighty Morphine Power Sedatives. --L.O.L.! Dave, can't wait to hear the next one! LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION Wouldn't you love to be on TV? Wouldn't you love to be a superhero and have superpowers? Well, one of our members gets the chance--not just one of the members...my partner--Justin Harvey. He's going to be on a show called "Generation X" which VORTEX ENTERTAINMENT creates--he's part of Vortex Entertainment, by the way! He wrote most of the scripts and they are soooo morphinomenal (Hey, I don't know what to use from GX yet...)! The show will air in Tennessee and VORTEX will be sending it to other companies! Look for Justin soon as Toby Alan San....Generation X is going to be hot! Ask Justin for more details! INTERVIEW Here is Part II of the interview that was started on the 19th issue of the nl! --Disney Adventures ("Mighty Munchin' Power Lunchin'". _Disney Adventures_. Burbank, CA: Disney Magazine Publishing, Inc., April, 1994. Pgs. 24-7.) Q: Which Power Ranger would be the next U.S. Prez? AUSTIN: I would. WALTER: I would. THUY: Me! Trini! The first woman President! DAVID: I think it would be Billy. AMY JO: Billy. AUSTIN: My character's strong point is political science. DAVID: Yeah, but Jason's a jock. AUSTIN: Jason's not a jock. He's a very athletic student who takes a lot of pride in what he does. WALTER: Jock! Q: Which Power Ranger eats the most? AUSTIN: Jason. WALTER: Zack. THUY: Jason. AMY JO: Zack. AUSTIN: Yeah, OK, it's Zack. He sits down at these big bowls of ice cream, like bathtubs of ice cream. Q: Since you do your own stunts, how do you keep in shape? AUSTIN: I've been studying martial arts since I was 5. I help instruct, too. DAVID: I lift weights and stretch. Most of our episodes are a workout, especially the putty fights and clusters. AMY JO: Thuy and I work out on the weekends with a stuntman. He's teaching us martial arts. Q: Do you hang out together? WALTER: Yeah. We play volleyball, football, go rock climbing, do gymnastics. AMY JO: We go to the movies. THUY: And flea market shopping. AMY JO: When we go to flea markets, I let Thuy do the talking 'cause she's a good bargainer. THUY: Last weekend, Amy Jo got the coolest suede jacket for $20! DAVID: All of us went out for my birthday and sang karaoke songs. AUSTIN: Me, David and an assistant director sang a rap song. We nicknamed ourselves "The Studs." DAVID: I got up with Amy Jo and sang a song from Grease. WALTER: I sang, "Great Balls of Fire!" Q: Who are your favorite superheroes? AUSTIN: Superman. THUY: Wonder Woman. WALTER: Mighty Mouse. DAVID: Robin Hood. AMY JO: The Wonder Twins. Q: Have you seen the Power Rangers dolls? DAVID: We have the old ones. We haven't seen the new ones with our faces on them yet. WALTER: My dad was walking around downtown sticking the dolls in people's faces, asking, "If anyone wants to meet my son--here, Mastodon!" Q: Do you get recognized? AMY JO: The others get recognized a lot. It usually never happens to me. I don't wear makeup, and I don't dress in pink at all. THUY: I don't usually dress in yellow. AMY JO: But you look like Trini. I don't look anything like Kimberly. WALTER: After the earthquake, I went to some shelters to try to cheer up the kids. When some kids watching TV saw me, their mouths dropped open. "You look just like Zack from the Power Rangers!" they said. And they ran and got everyone, and a whole bunch of kids crowded around me. AUSTIN: I was playing a race car video game at Sports Center. This kid asked my friends, "Is that the Red Ranger?" They said, "Yeah, that's Jason." Pretty soon, kids are all around me. One kid comes up to me, "Hi, my name's Roger. Can you do a backflip?" I said, "Sure, let's go outside." We go out on Ventura Boulevard, and I do a backflip. "Wow, do another," the kids said. Pretty soon, I'm doing back handsprings, jump kicks, more backflips. It was a lot of fun. Q: Any last words for our D.A. readers? ALL: It's Morphin time! Let's go save the world! --Btw, that was the unedited version. That included all the names (Roger, Ventura Blvd., etc.) that were edited out! TWO THUMBS UP REVIEW ON MMPR INTERACTIVE by Justin Harvey In the Hollywood online section of AOL, where almost all of us downloaded the MMPR gif files, there is a new item. It's the MMPR Interactive. It has everything from movie credits to Q: & A: from the rangers. Although it's not a game, it does offer a " unique " amount of options. One neet thing about it is that you can make the Rangers morph from non-ranger to Ranger. Check this thing out if you don't mind useing some AOL time for download. It may take some time depending on what baud rate you're on. But, if you want something to do late at night, go for it. On the scale of 1-10 1 being plain old sorry and 10 being morphinomal, I'd give it a 71/2, which beats MMPR The Movie SNES game by a long shot. I give it a 9! That thing is cool! It has credits, interviews with the Rangers, scenes from the movie, MMPR info., everything you could possibly want and more. Why a 9 then? I never give anything a 10! Jurassic Park got a 3 1/2 stars from me! Nothing's perfict! (BTW people, that's spelled wrong!!!) Well, I've got to go.... "NINJETTI......................I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING!" Justin, Justin--you don't know your own zord!?! I thought you were Kermit. ;-) TWO THUMBS DOWN! This is out of order today. Come back tomorrow, kay? (I found a review but as you can see...there's no room for it! Maybe next time...) THAT'S ALL FOLKS... Well, that's all for now! Tune in next time for the spotlight on David Coatsworth (Co-producer of the movie) and Paul Murphy, A.C.S., we'll hopefully have a MMPR review (I'm planning to do one on the Talking Morpher if no one else sends something in), someone's (Please help!) MMPR movie review, etc. And, later we'll have some stuff that oshaun sent me a long time ago... Justin, of course, is going to be working on this one with me and we'll try and keep the space budget down (CVAdam--sorry. Your e-mail can't hold his much) [Beep/beep/beep/beep/beep/beep] Uh, that's all for now. I've gotta...uhm...go.... "NINJETTI.....................................THE CACOMISTLE!" /\ anyone wonder what these things are? Mm__)
