"Let me out of here...NOW...please!" No, no, no--stick around and you might like what you get! Of course, you remember this quote from the 1st issue of the newsletter. Can you believe there have already been 10 newsletters and now 3 specials! Morphinomenal! This is the first nl with double digits (Can't wait till it goes triple ;-) Any way, a lot is in store today including an interview with Johnny Yong Bosch, Austin St. John in the spotlight (You'd better believe it! ;-), plus WL's top 10 reasons for watching the show, Ask Max, Oshaun's article from a Virginia paper, Stuff You Never Wanted To Know, and much, much more. So, sit back, relax, and...kick the printer for not working! And, if you have no printer, kick someone nearby, just to release your anger! :-P BTW, the reason this nl came out so late today is because my phone line was dead! (---O <--hang noose.) Just remember, no water--no snow, no mountain--no hill, no Ranger--no Trooper can keep this nl from arriving in your mailbox. Especially since none of that can effect AOL. Welcome to new MMPR fans, CarsonH and SkJhOl. Welcome to the club, you guys. The password is FUN! ("The Password Is..." sounds like a good title. Hmm...) BTW, in case I forgot to mention it, Chris7118 is leaving AOL because of the bills. Bye, Chris--we'll all miss you. ;-( BTW, here is the answer to a frequently asked Power Ranger question: QUESTION: What were the monsters singing in the abandoned specter theater in downtown Angel Grove in "The Wedding."? MAX'S ANSWER: "Baw bop she bing Baw bop she boom Gonna make the Ranger Rangers stew Baw bop she bing Baw bop she bow Nothing can save the Rangers now Baw bop she bing Baw bop she boom Time has come for the Rangers' doom Baw bop she bing Baw bop she boom Four little Rangers... they're all doomed!" By the way, there is now going to be a new column--ASK MAX. Any Power Ranger questions, Power Ranger problems, ask Max--it's like an advice column. ;-) BTW, speaking of music from "The Wedding", did everyone hear Mighty Raw's song, "We're On Our Own Now" or "We're On Our Own". It rocks (Does anyone even say that anymore?). Anyway, that is a song that is really catchy! If you can hear a song in your head (Like you're playing the cassette in your brain), then you know it's a good song. :) Speaking of Mighty Raw, I goofed (Even perfect people like moi make mistakes) and Justin is going to correct me: "OK, if you remember, I asked everyone to send their " Save RAW " letters. I know there has been some confusion ( MARK ! Tee hee }:-) so here's what's going on. My bro, Ron Wasserman AKA Aaron Waters, who is Mighty RAW needs our help. There's no need to point this out, but if you don't know, Ron does ALL of the GOOD music you hear on MMPR. ( Not the Movie. }:-( ... ) It was bad enough not being able to hear 5-4-1 on the movie, soon we might not be able to hear it on TV ! Saban Entertainment is wanting Ron to change his great music style to something weak and slow pace. When the show first came out I thought MMPR was the stupidest thing on TV. But I kept an open mind when I heard the music. ( And I'm one of those people who dosen't like music. ) That was the only thing I liked about it. Then when Jason Frank came on the show and there was that fight scene with " GO GREEN RANGER " playing, I was hooked. What I'm getting to is this, Ron Wasserman ( Mighty RAW ), Jason Frank, and Amy Johnson made the show what it is. We've already lost one of them ... let's not lose another. ( It just wouldn't be the same without Ron's style of music. ) Some of you have sent in your " save RAW " letters, but it just isn't enough. We need more so I can send them in ! And I know most of you haven't done it yet. Here's what you need to do. Write a short letter ( or like Marx Okman, a long one ) using Microsoft Works 3.0 ( if you have it ) and attatch it to your E-MAIL. If you don't have Microsoft Works 3.0 then write your " save RAW " letter on your E-MAIL. I'll print it from there. PLEASE HURRY Your bro, Justin" I told you I was a ditz from Day 1. ("I don't eat meat 'cuz I'm a vet-er- anarian.") DON'T BLAME ME! ;-? BTW, does this song come on before Power Rangers only here on the Fresno station or all over. Tell me if it does or doesn't. Everyone must have an answer with those two choices ;-) : Jump and flip in the air Now the Rangers really rocks You monsters better beware Every weekday here on Fox And, Saturday mornings! Don't miss the coolest classic episodes! And, you will be morphin' with them! Morph with the Rangers again! Also, on other FOX shows, does Amy Jo do this voiceover: "Hi, I'm Kimberly the Pink Ranger and I have some great news! Now, Power Rangers can be seen 6 times a week right here on FOX Kids-- morphinomenal! So, tune in on weekdays AND Saturday's too, right her on FOX Kids." (I say this so many times in my acting class, that everyone ELSE has it memorized too. I especially like doing the 'morphinomenal.') STUFF YOU NEVER WANTED TO KNOW: Here's some info. I figured out myself from "The Wedding." On Part I, Rita gets a "makeover" with Finster's moon mud. When she washes the mud off, she actually looks different. I never really thought about this. But, the reason why was that was when Carla Perez took over Soga Machinko's role of Rita (Actually, Bandara from ZyuRangers). The only reason why Rita's voice STILL didn't match her lips (Even though they were a lot closer) was because Barbara Goodson does the voiceover for Rita and if Rita's voice changed (As it does for the movie because Julia Cortez is playing her voice and body), people would kind of know. That is why all of the sudden Rita started mouthing the words better and why the moon mud scene was put in and why Rita looks different. Annnyyywaayyyy, here's an update on the four polls (Which all might stick around for a little while, with your help ;-): FAVE RANGERS: BLACK RANGER-1 point (Justin traded in his Conrad vote for Black. Thanks, Justin. A lot of people who couldn't decide between their fave Ranger and Black thank you! ;-) BLUE RANGER-4 points GREEN RANGER-2 points PINK RANGER-8 points RED RANGER-3 points WHITE RANGER-2 points YELLOW RANGER-2 points FAVE NON-RANGERS: BULK & SKULL-10 points RITA-1 point FINSTER-1 point ERNIE-1 point RICHIE/CURTIS-1 point POLL 2-WEIRDEST MERCHANDISE Trini and Kimberly Barbie Dolls The Gummy Rangers Mac n Cheese ALL OF IT and "It's this long plastic box with the Rangers on it, and it's used by schoolkids to hold pencils et. al. but it has these buttons along the edge. When pressed, the box opens up all these compartments -- tape measurer, magnifying glass, paperclips, and even a mirror! It's like a Swiss Army Pencil Box." --AlTank NOTE FROM MAX: My sister had one of these -- it was a Strawberry Shortcake one, I believe. I used to play with it all the time -- I loved it as a kid! There was a thermometer (To tell how hot the weather is) in hers and I had no idea what it was for or, for that matter, what it was. She still has it in her closet somewhere, I believe, but I wouldn't dare take a look, even though she's "living" with someone else temporarily so that she can baby-sit the family. POLL 3-Worst and best of being a MMPR fan! BEST THING: "I got hooked up with a guy that has all kinds o' neat stuff, even the original Japanese episodes!" --AlTank WORST THING: "Co-workers now just roll their eyes when I stand up and say something in the lunchroom." --AlTank. Al --may I call you Al-- pure, pure ignorance! If your idiotic co-workers are going to look at you differently, even for humor, just because you watch a TV show, then they are the ones who should be shot dirty looks. Here's mine: }:-( Hey, Al --may I call you Al-- be sure to send the message across. ;-) POLL 4-MISTAKES STHJ@MARISTB.MARIST.EDU says she noticed a mistake on V.R. Troopers recently but I forgot to ask her what it was. Please, STHJ, tell us before we all explode into a zillion, no--a gazillion intergalactic pieces of fiery, flaming, steaming hot, smokin', burning, sizzling, great balls of fire! Whoa! Here is one from me (Marx Okman): Okay, I'm not sure if this counts but I noticed a big change since the beginning of the show. In the beginning, Bulk and Skull didn't even go to Angel Grove High. In "Happy Birthday, Zack" they mention the kids from 'Angel Grove High.' And, in "Food Fight", they are hanging out with kids from a different school. Why, you ask, would they come to the Juice Bar then? Well, supposedly, the Juice Bar used to be a kid hangout, not by Angel Grove High but in the middle of Angel Grove. It wasn't like a school store or anything, just a hangout. I always pictured it next door to the school. I don't know why... Today's MMPR profile comes from B A C L. SCREEN NAME: B A C L REAL NAME: Brian Andrew Clark Lewis CURRENT RESIDENCE: Hollywood, CA BIRTHDATE: 04/15/79 FAVE EPISODE: "The Wedding" FAVE QUOTE: "I'm currently working on a monster that eats cars and smells like fish." --Finster. [MAX'S NOTE: This came from "Different Drum, my fave episode!] Next, we'll hear from Rufio, Tien CO, WBarezz, and then Psyclone12. If I left anyone's profile out, please tell me ASAP! By the way, B A C L mentioned that he lived in Hollywood. I'm going there on the 15th of July (this Saturday) and if anyone nearby wants to meet me there, we can work something out. And, Cori (Sab4kids), if you're reading this--e-mail me and tell me what you're doing that day. ;-) BECAUSE I'M GOING TO HOLLYWOOD ON SATURDAY, THE CHAT/SIM WON'T BE UNTIL SUNDAY the 16TH. More details later! Justin can choose a time this time. ;-) "YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT" Last times quote #1 was "This was too fun." Of course, this was said by Rocky in "Rocky Just Wants To Have Fun." (The title IS the answer in itself.) Rocky was playing the Pachinko machine and he turns and says, "This is tooo fun!" The dumbest thing in the whole entire series is this line. If you notice, he turns the button once and tells everyone how fun it is. I'm all...oh, it's fun to turn a button? Psshhhww! Watch this episode again and watch Rocky turn a button and say, "This is too fun!" I love it but it ruins the whole realism of the show. ;-) I AM SORRY IF I LEAVE SOMEONE OUT WHEN WHO SCORED BUT, HERE IS WHO I HAVE SCORING A POINT: Tien CO gets the two points, then STHJ@MARISTB.MARIST.EDU, FIM1UR2 (XSENTAIX in disguise), DavrosPrm, and then Randi Twin. Again, if I left somebody with the correct answer out, just e-mail me and I'll give you the correct points! If you IM'd the answer, then I don't have it so tell me! ;-) The second quote nobody got and I didn't really expect anyone to. I'll set the scene up for you and see if anyone can recognize it: Kimberly is building a float for the Angel Grove parade when putties come up, on Rita's command, and tear Kim's float to pieces. The Rangers defeat the putties and while congratulating one another, Kim cries her eyes out (Good, good job, A.J! ;-) and says, "Look at my model! It's ruined! Six months of working on it!" Trini tells her, "It's okay, Kim. There will be other parades and more floats to design." Kim, in tears, "Yeah, but Rita will probably wreck them too." Kim goes off crying and Jason says, "Man, that Rita is a real witch." JASON FROM "THE SPIT FLOWER." ;-P Of course, no one got it right because it was a HARD one, but still--it's a pretty good quote. Today's quotes are: QUOTE 1- "Oh, my gosh....it's my poodle's birthday and I forgot to buy her a birthday present!" QUOTE 2- "Hey, look--it's Kimberly!" "TRIVIAL PURSUIT" Last weeks trivia was pretty simple but that's good. Friday's belated one was "What was the name of the monster that drained Tommy's powers?" The answer, of course, was Turban Shell (Don't feel bad for those of you who aren't good with monsters names--I'm the same with the V.R. Trooper robots). Once again, if I don't have your answer, tell me: Patri56297 gets the 2 points, then Jojo Stix, FIM1UR2, and then DavrosPrm. The second trivia question was a little simpler but still hard if you're not good with names. What is the name of the prinicipal of Angel Grove High School? Of course, it's Mr. Caplan--the one always losing his toupee, either in a punchbowl, a pool of shaving creme, or in some other silly way. And, usually, Bulk and Skull are included in the hassle. Patri56297 got the two points, then Tien CO, then STHJ@MARISTB.MARIST.EDU, and then Jojo Stix. IF I LEFT YOU OUT, TELL ME! Here is the scoreboard: Jojo Stix: 5 points RedRng: 4 points DavrosPrm: 3 points Chris7118: 1 point WhiteRng: 1 point Randi Twin: 3 points DarwnONeil: 1 point CV Adam: 3 points XSENTAIX/FIM1UR2: 7 points Ami Ree: 2 points Tien CO: 4 points STHJ@MARISTB.MARIST.EDU: 2 points Patri56297: 4 points Anyone can win now! Every nl issue, each person can earn at least 8 points if they do everything correctly! ;-) Oshaun sent me an article (along with 4 articles that will be seen in future nls) from a Virgina paper. Here it is: From _The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger Star_, Thursday, June 29, 1995: _Power Rangers reflect on stardom_ by Henry Sheehan Orange County Register It has been 2 1/2 years since "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" changed the television viewing habits of millions of American kids and the Christmas-shopping patterns of their parents. Although it has been a six-day-a week staple on the TV schedule, almost from the beginning the show has undergone many changes. The Green Ranger was supposed to be a five-episode guest star, but he was refitted into the White Ranger and, eventually, mad the leader. Late last year, the Yellow, Black and Red Rangers were replaced with new actors who donned the same uniforms but played different characters. Now come the biggest changes of all. Friday, Fox releases "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie," a $30-million feature whose first-rate special effects stand in stark contrast to the cheesy visuals of the TV show. The Rangers also have been given new uniforms and Zords -- totemic animals that are the source of each one's special power -- that will be folded into next season's shows. Although a sequel to the movie is already planned, along with the series' third season, the "Power Rangers" phenomenon is lessening in intensity -- a fact obvious to anyone who goes into a toy store and sees discounted Rangers merchandise. The release of the movie provided a platform for the show's stars to look back and take stock. Last week, the six young Rangers and the show's comic relief team of Bulk and Skull talked with reporters about the wild ride of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers." _On the show's popularity_ Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly, the Pink Ranger): "I think it's because the show moves so fast. It's bright colors, dinosaurs, martial arts all packed into one half-hour." David Yost (Billy the Blue Ranger): "I think it's a combination of a lot of things, but mostly because we just offer so much to kids: six different unique characters with their own personalities that kids can relate to." Karan Ashley (Aisha, the Yellow Ranger): "We're good citizens and students -- and we save the world every day." _On fan mail_ Johnson: "I get some strange fan mail from people in prison and stuff like that. Really bizarre. I guess it could be disturbing." Steve Cardenas (Rocky, the Red Ranger): "I get a lot from young girls who want to marry me." Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam, the Black Ranger): "One of the first letters I got was from someone who wanted to marry me. Those things are kind of scary." Paul Schrier (Bulk): "I like to answer all the fan mail, because (Jason Narvy and I) get so little that when we do get it, we feel almost obligated. In fact, I've answered some of Amy Jo's fan mail, too." Jason Narvy (Skull): "It's very funny -- occasionally kids will put their phone numbers on the letter. And sometimes we'll call them up." Schrier: "We call them often. We'll leave weird messages on the machine, or if we can get them on the phone we'll freak with them or talk to their moms, see if we can get the kid on the phone." _On meeting fans_ Jason David Frank (Tommy, the White Ranger): "Once when Amy and I went to Hawaii, and they printed the flight number and arrival time in the newspaper. When we got to the airport, there were, I swear, 5,000 people there. It took us an hour to get out of the airport, I had leis from here to here. It felt like the Beatles." Narvy: "When kids see Paul or me in public, they ask if we're ashamed or whether our parents have gone into hiding." _On their characters_ Johnson: "Kimberly was supposed to be a bleached-blonde mall rat, a total Valley girl. They didn't have me bleach my hair and I sort of tamed my character into a more personable person. The first scripts I got were like, 'Totally, dude!' and everything was about shopping. So I made my own character up." Narvy: "The characters who would eventually become us were originally very, very violent. They were punks who literally attacked the Power Rangers." Schrier: "We took more and more time with the comedy bits and it reached a point where the producers said, 'They have a thing now. Let's let them do it.'" WHY THE HELL WAS AMY JO AND JASON DAVID GOING TO HAWAII TOGETHER? After days of wonder, I found a maybe-answer...an answer I didn't want to hear.............an anonoymus member on Prodigy was impersonating Jason David Frank. Here's a letter he sent to another member, who told me about the impersonator: "About the rumors, It is true that we were dating before the show. She got the job and we were kind of breaking up.......Then she introduced me to Haim Saban, the creator of Power Rangers. He liked the way that the style of self-defense combines all other martial arts. So, presto, the Green Ranger was created. They were habing some trouble with budget so they limited my appearances. When they brought me back as the White Ranger, I was on the show all the time since Amy and I saw each other too much, almost every day, and for the reasons that you mentioned we decided to break up. We are still great friends but now she is dating another man, and me, another woman. I just thought that I'd write the letter to clear things up." Then, I got him to confess that he wasn't Jason David, he said: "One of my best friends is real good friends with Amy Jo and I met her and that was the story that she told me. If you ever meet Jason, give him my sincerest appologies. His brother Eric and my brother are good friends. Once again, I'm sorry to Mr. Frank and Mr. Saban." AMY JO TOLD THAT STORY???? In Oshaun's article from the Virginia newspaper, it mentioned them going to Hawaii together! But, I don't understand one thing--Jason David was married far before he became the White Ranger (His kid is about 10 months old) so why would he be still dating A.J. if he was married? And, who is this other man? I don't doubt that A.J. is seeing someone--I doubt that she is single--but, I can't picture anyone good enough for her. Know what I mean? I guess Jason David is good enough for her...but, not really....The only problem is I kind of liked Jason David and now I have to think of him as an enemy. If you haven't noticed yet, I am A.J.'s protector from all these millions of crazed fans (Artie on the Internet said that he would like to be in Zordon's tube with Thuy and A.J. and just.... Egyptia on the Internet said that he wants to f**k A.J. --These people bug me!!!) Anyway, in Oshaun's article, it mentioned A.J.'s fan mail (Paul and Jason even answer it) and getting mail from people in prison. See, everyone is attracted to her, goodie-goodies (My catergory) because she plays one on TV and I guess, in real life and wild guys because she is (Uhm, in my goody-goody words) attractive. Their words were a little different however! ;-) Today's spotlight is on AUSTIN ST. JOHN. It's from Terri Ann C.'s FAQ guide and from Teen Beat ("Austin St. John: The Red Power Ranger in His Own Handwriting". _Teen Beat_. New York: The Sterling/McFadden Partnership, March, 1995. Now, for wl@Primenet.Com's 10 reasons for watching the show: "Here is a list of 10 reasons why I watch the show... 10. The footage is pretty cool thought it's so cheesy 9. My friend worked with the power rangers early in the 1st season 8. My friend [had been asked and was in the running] to be the Green Ranger and turned it down (bad career move, huh?) 7. Neat how they dub the voices over the nodding heads of the rangers 6. Weird how no one wears seat belts and they tend to fall out of the Zord 5. Where'd all the buildings come from? 4. How Zedd's huge serpent-like machine loses power at the right time... 3. Good always conquers evil... (woo. woo. how exciting. Zzzzzz...) 2. Hearing about Kimberly's shopping plans. Aisha > "Oh, how shallow" 1. Pink Power Ranger -- The Florescent Navy Blue Marble Ranger" Thanks, WL. Now it's time for today's BAD news. The scheduled interview with Johnny Yong Bosch is cancelled. Read the conclusing paragraph to find out why. There will now be a MMPR:TM review column temporarily. Each time we will hear from a famous columnist on what he thinks of the movie. Because of lack of room, this won't start until Friday's nl. ;-) Don't forget to read Part Two of NY Zeta's story, "Apocalypse." Next time the spotlight will be on Thuy Trang, there will be a story on Thuy Trang escaping from Vietnam, a review on the MMPR CD Rom game, an interview with Johnny Yong Bosch (No room today and also can't find the mag ==:-() ), a MMPR:TM review from a columnist, and much, much, more! Well, that's all for now: Ninjetti...........the panther! Rrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooowwwllllllllllll! (That's what I say when I see A.J.--the Pink Panther!) Mm__)
