Happy belated Fourth of July. Man, those fireworks reminded me of the movie. I kept waiting for one to say "Thank You, Power Rangers", you know, as a joke, but none did. :( Welcome, once again, to another exciting issue of the Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger newsletter. Today is going to be a very exciting issue focusing on the movie and the TV show! And, we're going to announce the winner of the contest and start a new one, hear an article from Chris, an postponed interview with Steve Cardenas, and the spotlight on Karan Ashley. So, "hold on....whoa!" Welcome to Oshaun, a very helpful member for the nl. A welcome to B A C L, a true Power Ranger fan. Also welcome to Terri Ann C., one of those Internet people that I forgot to introduce. I forgot everybody else on the list. All new members that haven't been mentioned, e-mail me and I will tell about you! I just have not been getting it together lately and this messed everything up. SEND YOUR MIGHTY RAW LETTERS TO XSENTAIX....HE KNOWS WHERE TO SEND THEM! ONCE AGAIN, SEND YOUR MIGHTY RAW LETTERS TO XSENTAIX!!! The date of the sim will be at 5:30PM PST/8:30PM EST on Saturday the 8th and Saturday the 22nd and Saturday the 29th. It will be in the Private room: MMPRsim. That way unwanted visitors won't enter and also everybody who is a new Ranger will get their powers in this sim. I and changing from Kim to the Teal Ranger in the next sim so I will get my powers then. And, now Grey is unavailable. Come on guys, think of your favorite color, your favorite Ranger (Yellow, Black, or Blue is left) and remember, just have fun! For more info. read Justin's article on Friday or he'll send you all the info. The date of the chats will be EVERY Friday at 6:30PM PST/9:30PM EST. If this is a problem, I'll try and help. :) Of course, being the toy freaks that they are, the people of Saban Entertainment are not going to let the movie be released without aisles and aisles of toy stores being reserved for the movie toys. After an exciting trip to various toy stores, here are some of the items that interested me (They are also the only ones that I can remember): 1. THE POWER RANGER MOVIE SUPER NINTENDO GAME. This is soooo cool! This Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger game is morphinomenal and it's already on the top of my birthday list. Not only is it entertaining and fun to play (So, I've seen and heard from TommyOliv) but it actually uses live action from the show. Including, the Power Ranger group pose and the head in the morpher sequence. RETAIL PRICE: $65 2. THE POWER RANGER METALLIC ACTION FIGURES 8" These are really big Power Ranger toys. They look exactly like the old 8" (Is that the size?) except they are shiny. My friend even mistook the Yellow Ranger for the Gold Ranger RETAIL PRICE: $8.99? 3. THE POWER RANGERS METALLIC ACTION FIGURES 5" Again, I'm not sure what size but this is the small Power Ranger toys. Once again, they are exactly like the old ones but they are shinier and they have The Movie logo printed on the box. RETAIL PRICE: $8.99 4. THE POWER RANGER NINJETTI FIGURES 2" Again, I don't know if that's the correct size but these are the miniature figurines of the Power Rangers in the Ninjetti costumes. I have all the other figures but I don't know if I can add these to my collection due to lack of money and space. RETAIL PRICE: $1.99 5. OOZE CREATURES & OOZE This is kind of cool but it doesn't give you very much. It is a little head (About the size of a baseball) of a Tengu Warrior (Not the bird, the ones that splatter against the wall) and I think you can put ooze in their mouth and make it gush out. The extra ooze packet is really small, unfortunately. RETAIL PRICE: $12.99? 6. POWER RANGER ZORD FIGURES I don't know what you call them but these are those zord toys that you can get, now from the movie. I only saw the Falcon one, however. RETAIL PRICE: $29.99? or maybe $44.99? 7. POWER RANGER THE MOVIE ACTIVITY BOOKS These are simply activity books from the movie. There are four of them. [I bought them and the lady at the checkout stand commented on how she 'hated the Power Rangers--ewwww!!!'] RETAIL PRICE: $.99 8. POWER RANGER POSTERS Available from the fan club offline newsletter [The Morphin Times.] It comes in one that says "The Power Is On Next Summer" (Available on the opening of the Pagemaster), "The Power Is On June 30th" and "Each has a power. Each has a purpose. And together, they will face their fiercest enemy." RETAIL PRICE: $9.99-$11.99 (It depends on how many you buy.) 9. POWER RANGER MOVIE CAP This is a Power Ranger Movie Cap. (I forgot who told me, but the original Power Ranger cap is available at SunCoast.--If you told me, e-mail me and inform me so I can give you credit.) This cap is available from the Power Ranger fan club exclusive offer. RETAIL PRICE: $9.99-$11.99 10. POWER RANGER MOVIE T-SHIRT This is a Power Ranger Movie T-shirt. Nothing more to say than that. RETAIL PRICE: $9.99-$11.99 BTW, when I say retail price, I mean the price that you will most likely find it for. And ? means I couldn't find a price tag and guessed. There are a lot more but those are the only major ones that I remember. The only things that I am interested in is the Ninjetti figures and the SNES game. Both seem morphinomenal! Good news for those of you who have already spent a fortune on Power Ranger merchandise. Two new Power Ranger videos have arrived. Here is where we're at so far: Day of the Dumpster High Five Food Fight Happy Birthday, Zack No Clowning Around Green With Evil Part I Green With Evil Part II Green With Evil Part III Green With Evil Part IV Green With Evil Part V The Wanna-Be Ranger Putty on the Brain Bloom of Doom Goldar's Vice-Versa Rocky Just Wants To Have Fun Where There's Smoke, There's Fire * * * Two For One * * * Forever Friends BTW, as you all know, Green With Evil is repeating as we speak. For those of you who don't know, the original titles are Green With Evil Part I-V but it was changed for no reason. The titles have a different structure than normal and the new titles come from the newest version of the Green With Evil Home Videos. They are: Green With Evil Part I........Out of Control Green With Evil Part II.......Jason's Battle Green With Evil Part III......The Rescue Green With Evil Part IV......Eclipsing Megazord Green With Evil Part V.......Breaking the Spell On the videos it is written like this: Green With Evil Part I: Out Of Control [NEXT:] Starring Jason Frank as Tommy According to Terri Ann C., they are doing this 'so they can correspond with the video release titles. And why were the video titles given different names? Simple -- easier recognition. To the glancing eye, there isn't much difference between I, II, and III. But, if they have different titles, then they stand out even more (I know they already have different cover art. The different titles simply enhance each tapes' uniqueness.). If a customer thinks they're getting something unique, they're more apt to buy it.' Anyway, none of the polls have changed except Gelbert had a split decision on his favorite Ranger between Pink and White and finally decided White. Here are the polls.: POLL 1- BEST RANGER VOTES POLL 2- WEIRDEST MERCHANDISE POLL 3- BEST/WORST POWER RANGER THING The fourth poll, 3rd season episode prediction, has been canceled. Here is the newest poll: POLL 4- NAME ANY MISTAKES YOU'VE NOTICED ON THE SHOW OR THE MOVIE. Here's mine: On "Green With Evil Part II (Jason's Battle)", they form the Megazord and the Tyrannosaurus Dinozord is there even though Jason is in the Dark Dimension. On "Different Drum", when the Power Rangers morph out and shout "POWER RANGERS!", somehow, the Pink Ranger is gray. Chris7118 informed me that on "The Trouble With Shellshock," when Trini rescues the Rangers, she calls Tommy Billy. If anybody has an idea for a poll, e-mail me ASAP! The answer to last week's trivia was Richie is Ernie's assistant at the Juice Bar. Watch "White Light" and all the episodes around it and you will see this. RedRng was the only one who got it right. Today's trivia question is "Which one of the Power Rangers invented the secret communications used to contact Zordon?" The answer to last week's quote was Kimberly and Billy from "Power Ranger Punks." Baboo just slipped a potion into Kimberly and Billy's drinks and they turned into punks. Trini, Zack, and Jason (Weird how they were together, huh?) asked if they wanted to play volleyball, Billy and Kimberly answered "No, volleyball is for dorks...and you guys are dorks!" I don't know who said what (I think Billy said the whole line and Kimberly said, "Yeah!") Anyway, I soon realized people would answer Bulk and Skull so I warned you guys. Luckily, only two people guessed (RedRng and I forgot who the other one was. IF YOU SAID KIMBERLY AND BILLY, E-MAIL ME AND I'LL GIVE YOU CREDIT!) Now, there are two quotes. One is worth more than the other--you can only answer one though at a time and you can decide which one you want to answer: Worth 1 point: "There were times when I wanted to give up too but I believed in myself and I kept trying." Worth 2 points: "Heeeerrreeeee you go!" Remember if you answer either one first, you will get an extra point. Well, as you all know, RedRng (Rick) and XSENTAIX (Justin) have been fighting neck and neck for the Power Ranger contest. Here are the results: CVAdam: 1 point DarwnONeil: 1 point Randi Twin: 1 point Jojo Stix: 1 point WFowlks: 1 point Vmkrnmgn: 5 points And [drumrole please]............... RedRng: 10 points XSENTAIX: 10 points Huh??? Well, RedRng got two extra points from answering the trivia question right. So, he had 10 points. But, I forgot to add in a point for Justin--I thought it would be neat to include the quote that he tried to stump me with as a quote but then I remembered that that made him ineligible to guess. So, I gave him one point and now they are tied. Tiebreaker? Sudden Death? How about they both get prizes? So, both of them will be receiving the 1st issue of the Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger comic in the mail. BY THE WAY, IF ANYBODY SENDS ME $2.00, I can send them the 1st comic book too (In case you can't find one). DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE TO GET ISSUES 2-7 of the MMPR Comic books? Nobody carries them down here. If somebody can get me some, I of course will buy them from you. Today's spotlight is on KARAN ASHLEY/AISHA CAMPBELL. (_Washington Times_) Special Talents: Hip Hop Dancing. Good Traits: Has an upbeat attitude and a love of people that can turn any bad situation into a good one. Bad Traits: Suffers from occasional Putfootinmouthitis. Thank you, Terri Ann C. Here is today's interview from Teen Beats September 1995 issue. It is with STEVE CARDENAS: TB. Were you nervous about coming onto the MMPR, since the show is so hugely popular? SC: It was somewhat overwhelming--I couldn't believe I was actually working on a television show, and on a show that was so popular! TB. Do you think that the fact that you're so into martial arts helped you land the part of Rocky? SC: I think so. I've been doing it for nine years. I'm a black belt. I used to compete a lot, but I don't have time these days. TB. Tell us about the costumes you wear in the movie. SC: They're different from the ones on the show. The ones we wear on the show are made out of spandex and the ones for the movie are made of this latex/foam rubber kind of material. It looks kind of like the Batman costume. It's extremely heavy! TB. How do kids react when they meet you in person? SC: Some of the kids are really shy, and they want to say something, but just can't! And then the other ones are like, "Can I have your autograph?!" TB. Were there any super heroes you admired growing up? SC: Oh yes-- Superman! I liked him a lot. TB. What's your favorite thing about acting? SC: My favorite thing about it is I like the idea of being able to play someone else. That's cool. TB. Is there anyone in the cast of MMPR you're really close to? SC: Yes, actually, I think the person I like to hang around with the most is Amy Jo. We're good friends. [Sounds like Steve Cardenas has a crush on her too and thinks it's cool that he gets to work with her. If I were on the show, I would focus the whole interview on Amy Jo...I'd find a way somehow to work Amy Jo in each of my answers.] Here is today's movie review. It is from Chris7118: The date the we all waited for had arrived and I, like many others, waited in line to see The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Movie. In all I would say that the movie was great, seeing all of our favorite Rangers in a much larger scale, at first seems strange but you soon warm up to it. However, I don't think it had a good balance of what would entertain a child and an adult. Many times I could hear the young ones remark "Mommy I'm scared!". On the other side of the coin you can tell that some of the stunt work was performed using wires. The story kept with the great PR tradition of good vs evil, and boy was Ivan an evil one. It is rare in a PR story when you see the villain go directly at the adults of Angle Grove, but Ivan does, with a vengeance! The introduction of the new Zords and powers also worked great. With the disabling of the Command Center and Zordon our heros are forced to venture to a far off world to seek out an old friend of the beloved head in the time warp and her amazing secrets. Now on to the special effects. To sum it up, breathtaking! It takes a little getting used to the high tech, computerized Zords and monsters when we are used to seeing the more low budget, Japanese footage, but rest assured, the action is all there!! All in all I would say that the MMPR Movie is not to be missed by any fan. I would warn parents of the potential that younger viewers might be intimidated by some of the darker moments, but if your child has a firm grasp on what is real and what is a movie, you should have no problems. A definite thumbs up from this reviewer, but this is only one man's opinion. May the Power protect you..... Chris7118 Tune in next time when we have the spotlight on Steve Cardenas, an interview with Karan Ashley, more info. on the sim and chats, and from Terri Ann C.'s FAQ guide: Thuy's new TV show, where the original Rangers are now (updated), Amy Jo on a game show (as a young one), and more of everything. "Ninjetti!..............The aardvark!" (I warned you !) Marx Okman
