With the double-click on this message, you are now lost in another dimension of fun! Welcome once again to this Morphinominal newsletter! This nl is dedicated to Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy, two incredible actors (Coming from a dude with experience) who don't get as much credit as they should--it is altogether fitting and proper that I should do this--they were voted the best non-Rangers!!! Welcome, welcome, the newest member, Tommy Oliv. He likes Power Rangers as much as I do (Really!!!) and he helped me out with some missing information! Welcome one, welcome all, a very good friend and a great Power Ranger fan--12-year-old Tommy Oliv. I don't know his real name but his screen name comes from the White Ranger's name [See "What Is Your Character's Name?" below.] Also, a warm welcome please to Patri56297, a 15-year-old who is a little shy about watching the show. Like I always say, "It's a TV Show!!! You shouldn't be ashamed to watch TV! I, for one, love to shout out "GO GO POWER RANGERS!" in Target and talk into my watch in school! Another welcome to FIM1UR2, a Power Ranger fan who I forgot to add on the list! And, to NYZeta, a MMPR fan who is writing a Power Ranger story. Can't wait to read it! And, don't forget WFowlks, a good Power Ranger fan and, from what I've heard, a good friend. And, let's say goodbye to FSUDog, who says he's not a Power Ranger fan, just an Amy Jo Johnson fan. Didn't he read the last nl? That's how it all starts... I am disappointed to say that my mailbox is not overflowing with "bags" of mail like it should! This is an interactive newsletter and I want to keep it that way. Pretty soon everybody will get sick of hearing my opinions and want to hear somebody else's. I know I have a lot of polls, trivia, and quizzes but they all are usually fun to answer! I appreciate those who have already written in and I hope that you will continue to. :) NEWEST POLL: RedRng is nice enough to add scans of pictures to the nl. I need you guys to tell me what you want the pictures to be of. Other NEW POLL: Okay, here is the news. I also am a member of the Lois and Clark fan club. One of the members read my profile and made fun of me for liking Power Rangers. Boy, I was mad! I told him how cool the show was and everyone in the club began turning against me. I had to decide between leaving my Power Ranger love or leaving the Lois and Clark fan club. I decided (With no hesitation) to leave that place. NO ONE, NO SHOW, NO CLUB, can make me turn against these morphinominal Rangers! Luckily, the problem was all in my head and I was never out of the club. But, I need your guys's help. Everybody, can you give me some words that describe why we love Power Rangers so much? It's "cool" does not really cut it... The first story is going to be on Karan Ashley. Last time I mentioned her losing her cookies and blowing chunks for the camera. Most of you didn't think it was the same as it sounded, but it is. Here's the story: In case you didn't know, Karan Ashley is the Ranger most likely to get airsick. She says that during one scene in the movie, she had to hang from a wire 20 feet above the ground. "And I kind of got nauseous after the 10th take. I mentioned to the assistant director that I felt like I needed to throw up. But I knew I had to do my closeup, so I said 'I'll be fine.' And after I did one close-up, I pulled off my helmet and....." Well, we really don't want to hear the rest. She says Jason even took pictures. Euww. THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW (About Steve and Jason David.): Steve Cardenas was a superhero long before he became a Power Ranger. When he was 10, he would leap off the San Antonio, Texas garage and pretend he was Superman. Fortunately, a mattress always broke his fall. Later, he fell into the acting business after trying out for the part of the Red Ranger..."just for fun." Jason David Frank likes: 1. Mexican food 2. Scuba diving 3. Red Hot Chili Peppers 4. Pearl Jam. WHERE DID YOU COME FROM... Here is today's profile. Screen Name: RedRng (Red Ranger, of course :) ) Real Name: Rick Busby Residence: Winston Salem, NC....sysop of Command Center II BBS Birthday: 06/29/73 Fav. Episode(s): "Missing Green" Fav. Quote(s): "A leader is faced with tough decisions and acts on who has the greatest need. This team needed you before, and they need you now. You must face another decision." --Zordon in "Missing Green" Thanks, RedRng! Well, NOBODY guessed on last week's quote ("A tugboat?!?") and it was an easy one. It was from The Wedding Part I and it was said by Tommy. Kimberly bought a lot of souvenirs and wondered how she would get them all home; Rocky suggests a tugboat; Tommy exclaims a tugboat and then bursts out laughing. It's even on the preview of the episode (Today on Power Rangers...) Come on, guys! If this is too hard for you, try making up a quote for me to guess instead. I WANT A CHALLENGE!!! Here is this week's quote: "You can't just go to the store and buy these, you know!" The answer to last week's trivia question was Amy Jo Johnson calls herself a kamikaze! Jojo Stix guessed Jason David Frank but she was the only one who even guessed! Come on you guys--give it a try like Jojo Stix did! This week's trivia question is much, much easier than the previous ones: "Who is the first monster that the Power Rangers ever fought?" This one I'll expect people to try! Well, here are the answers to last week's quiz: 01. D 02. B 03. C 04. B 05. D 06. B 07. B 08. A 09. C 10. Billy--Lance Zack--Axe Kimberly--Bow Jason--Sword Trini--Daggers POWER RANGE: 0-5 points: Bumbling Bulk and Skull are looking for new recruits--and guess what? They want you! 6-10 points: Too powerful for Rita's lair but not powerful enough for Zordon's posse. Oh, well, we hear there's an opening at the Juice Bar! 11-14 points: Morphinominal! Jojo Stix tried and she got 13 out of 14 (She put A for #3)! And, L despair tried and got all 14 of 14! Both are morphinominal! ErBear53 got 2 out of 14 (That's how many she guessed on). Come on guys [I've been saying that a lot lately...] now you'll never know where you go on the Power Range! I got a little more info. from the polls but not enough from 30 people! We'll try them one more time and then I'm going to ask each one of you personally! Here we go: Poll 1: What do you think of V.R. Troopers, Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills and Superhuman Samurai Squad? Poll 2: Who is your favorite Ranger/non-Ranger? Poll 3: Favorite Power Ranger episode [FORGET THIS ONE--ANSWER IT IN YOUR MMPR PROFILE!!!] Poll 4: What is the weirdest piece of MMPR merchandise you've ever seen? Poll 5: What really happened to Austin, Thuy, and Walter? Poll 6: What pictures do you want in future nls? REMINDER: E-mail me the pictures that you would like to have of the Power Rangers in the nl. REMINDER: Don't forget to send in your words to describe why this show is so great! REMINDER: Vote for your favorite Ranger and non-Ranger! EVERYBODY give me one answer for each Poll or just give me one answer to one Poll and I'll be happy camper!!! Here is an update on the polls: POLL 1-WANNA-BE SHOWS "I can not bare to watch V.R. Troopers or TTAFFBH. However, on the rare occasion, where I actually managed to catch Samurai Syber Squad, I actually rather enjoyed it. Fair martial arts and Tim Curry actually enhance certain unappealing aspects of the show (such as certain actors and acting.) --L despair "I tried watching Superhuman Syber Squad once and got so bored, I had to go outside and do gymnastics!!! That show bugs me soooo much because they just get actors without martial art talent instead of, like V.R. and MMPR, actors with martial arts talent. I don't even believe that that counts as a MMPR wanna-be: it has nothing close to what Power Rangers or V.R. does, including Percy, Bulk and Skull, Ernie, Woody, Tao, Mr. Caplan, or Ms. Applebee. And, on TTAFFBH, they just got bad actors, who can't even perform their own tricks--they got stunt doubles who can barely do cartwheels! If there were the only superheros, Earth would be doomed!!!" --Marx Okman. POLL 2-FAVORITE RANGER Green Ranger-1 vote (L despair) Blue Ranger-1 vote (Randi Twin) Pink Ranger-1 enthusiastic vote (Marx Okman) + Wfowlks's vote= 2 votes Yellow Ranger-1 vote (ErBear53) Red Ranger-2 votes (Habur's son Michael and RedRng) White Ranger-1 vote (Habur's son Logan) [If you like the Black Ranger best, e-mail me quickly!!!] NON-RANGER Bulk & Skull (They have to be put together!)-2 votes (Randi Twin and Marx Okman) POLL 3-FAVORITE EPISODE "Food Fight" --ErBear53 "Green With Evil Part I-V" --L despair "Different Drum" --Marx Okman "Day of the Dumpster" --Habur (Michael and Logan.) [Answer this poll on your MMPR profile!!! :) ] POLL 4-WEIRDEST MERCHANDISE The Kimberly and Trini barbie dolls --L despair Okay, I'm out of quizzes...stop cheering, that's a bad thing!...but I'm going to make my own with a better Power Range (More updated, more paragraphs, more!) so you can try again! After we see the movie, we'll all have many opinions on the movie. Now, let's hear the Rangers' opinions: JASON DAVID FRANK says "When you come to see the movie, you're in for a big surprise. It's much bigger than the TV show, and there are a lot of cool, new elements." AMY JO JOHNSON says "I think it's a mix between Star Wars and the Wizard of Oz. It's really exciting." STEVE CARDENAS says "There is a lot of different things that set the movie apart from the TV show--there are plenty of new villains, including a really powerful one named Ivan Ooze. And out uniforms are different too. They make us looked really pumped." JOHNNY YONG BOSCH says "I worked really hard making this movie because every thing is so BIG! The story, the sets, the villains--everything. This movie has everything you could want in an adventure." KARAN ASHLEY says "The movie is a lot different from the TV show. We have new monsters that give us a bigger challenge than we've ever faced on the TV show. It's a real test for the Power Rangers." DAVID YOST says "Since we have more time to tell the story, the movie is much more dramatic than the TV show. It just builds and builds--until this absolutely incredible ending. You're gonna love it!" I, for one, have already fallen in love with all the previews and storybooks. I already know the whole story and it sounds soooo cool! I especially like the part when Zordon is lying on top of the tube and Karan cries, with a quiver in her voice, "What's happening' to him?" :) Here's some extra info. on Johnny Yong Bosch: Johnny, born in Kansas, was inspired at a young age by Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan to become involved in martial arts. Largely self-taught, Johnny earned the Purple Sash in Shaolin Kung Fu in just a year and a half! He also competed in numerous tournaments and won a trophy in every one he entered! In addition, Johnny counts soccer as a hobby in which he also excels. Johnny currently lives in Los Angeles. L despair has given me some info. about one of his favorite characters from another manga--the Bio Booster Armor Guyver: There are two Guyver live action movies: the first starred Marc Hamilll and it [was bad]. But, the second one had no big names in it but it was a spectacular movie and the director should be brought to attention. Steve Wang, best known for his special effects work in Predator and Batman, did a spectacular job in bringing a comic book/cartoon character to full-blown, live-action glory. He also did all of the creatures in both of the movies (Well, almost all--Screaming Mad George did some of the lamer creatures in the first movie.) Steve's other works include Kung Fu Rascals, a super 8 film about three martial art friends getting into stoogesque trouble while trying to save their land from the bamboo man. This film is a riot! I highly recommend it. Also, Steve was originally slated to direct the MMPR movie but backed out because of creative differences, although, I think he still did something in the special effects and martial arts department. So, please look up the works of Steve Wang and enjoy. Bring a marshmallow! Thank you, L despair! Now, it's time for the spotlight. Today the spotlight is on David Yost... Name: DAVID YOST Birthplace: COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA Parents' Names: DAVID AND CHERYL YOST Sister: CHERE' Height: 5'7 Weight: 135 Hair: BROWN Eyes: GREEN Hobbies: READING AND WRITING PLAYS Sports: JET-SKIING, WINDSURFING, MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDING Current Show and Character: "MIGHTY MORPHIN' POWER RANGERS" --BILLY Fave Music Group: LL2 Fave TV Show: MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN First Acting Job: POWER RANGERS Best Quality: I'M A GOOD FRIEND Worst Quality: I COMPLAIN AND WHINE TOO MUCH Dream Car: TOYOTA 4 RUNNER Fave Place For A Date: BEACH AT SUNSET I hope you David Yost fans are happy!!! If you're an Amy Jo fan, here's some info. that you might find shocking: AMY JO HANGS OUT AROUND BARS!!!... Well, gymnastic bars. She's been doing gymnastics since she was 7. This talent helped her become a finalist in the Miss Teen Massachusetts competition while she was still in high school. Well, one things for certain--her fans flip over her (Some, like me, literally.) If anyone needs help finding the Power Ranger comic, e-mail me and I'll help!!! DON'T FORGET TO TURN YOUR PROFILES IN AND TRY AND STUMP ME WITH YOUR QUOTES!!! AND, THE POLLS!!! Does anybody want to do a Friday newsletter? REMINDER: Tell me what pictures you want to see in future nl's. REMINDER: Turn in your words to describe why we love Power Rangers. REMINDER: Vote for your favorite Ranger and non-Ranger!!! Here's some new info.: The Power Rangers put their footprints and handprints in cement and it is front of the Chinese Graum Theatre in Hollywood, CA. Guess who suddenly decided he wants to take a trip to Hollywood for his vacation... Next time, we'll talk about Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy and Paul Freeman. There will be a movie summary (It won't be a spoiler, like I planned.) and you'll find out about David Yost's earlier job, Jason David Frank's biggest wishes, and the spotlight will be on Amy Jo Johnson and Kimberly Hart!!! More fun, more facts--All I need is more (of your help.) Well, I'm Marx Okman saying, once again, it's time to morph out and save the world...It's morphin' time! (I don't have the Great Power yet...I'm sure I'll get it by the 30th. Then, I'll be able to say Ninjetti!) Marx Okman
