What do we do?

I would say few words to anyone on this forum:

Have you noticed that rating of our forum is falling, so does membership, just as the forum. What can we do to get our rating back, to get our forum back on feet???

Can you compare this, and old RF?

The problem with comparing it to the original RangerForums, is that it is a different kind of forum. RangerForums main draw was that it offered direct downloads of near enough every PR episode there was. This was a source of some consternation because some people were claiming that the download links did not belong to RangerForums, and as such, should not be used.

When I took over, I didn't really care about the direct downloads either way. I wasn't going to take them down, and I wasn't going to support them. A problem for some, and probably the reason for the drop in traffic.

Honestly, I dont want to drag RetroForums into another bitching match with PRE or HEMP or whatever he's calling it now, which is what happened with RangerForums.

Personaly I say to heck with ratings they have little to do with the worth of something. The goal should be to have a good forum with good clean discusions. The more the marrier but with the lower key we have had a lot less spam and hack atacks. So what should we do keep up good threads, try to come up with good threads and keep being us. Course thats just my opinion.

Word of mouth. Keep giving a good forum and people will explore.

I agree with you guys about the lack of activity. It seems like very few people are posting on threads and stuff. Forums are fun when there are several people in one thread discussing their ideas. However, it seems like in almost all of the threads its two or three people talking, which can get uninteresting after a while.

I know I'm missing something that could help in the discussion Can someone explain what happened?
I first came to rangerforums for the downloads via google, but even after finding they were wmv and not what i wanted I stayed for the forum and discussions. Something is needed to try to get people to come. I agree with Roguefan in that using word of mouth is good but something more is needed to get a lot of people here. It seems that new members are joining but they never post :(

joining but not posting, I agree. 3 days ago, we had about 111 members active, and today, on September 16th 2007. we have only 89 active members, + we're numero 11 rated site. Some stupid mexican site is before us, so, guys, let's do something! We must attract new members somehow, or at least, attract people to vote for us! We must do something, otherwise, we're gonna end up in mud, remembering what we used to be. Let's revive our old glory, let's live at least few days in our old glory, we should never give up, I mean, we're greatest PR forum, and it seems we're doing just the opposite of PR moto: Never give up, why do you give up so easily SnoopsWarner? What happened?

well i cant really upload stuff anymore cause yea i lost everything and even before that ppl kept comming to me on AIM etc for PR eps that i never had and they asumed i had so yea anyways yea i agree we should get back on our feet but then again u guys would also have to contribute and talk daily if u can i noticed everyones busier this year and etc.

Personally and I didn't realize this was here..but..I like our small size...Ask ZGMF..how much banning a day did we do...or warnings we gave out or spam ads we had to ban and stuff....The level of douchebags and the hackings....retroforums is at peace...generally speaking....I feel relaxed here so what if were falling in ratings......We can bring that back up..they're going to find out we have downloads eventually...PRE...those dudes are weird... ur arguing over the net...I mean how do u determine a winner?

Well, a good way to increase the ratings of this forum is if you add something other PR/Sentai forums don't have, like features, skins and hacks.

A little more advertising would be helpful for RetroForums' ratings.

Also, may I say that even RangerForums weren't active at all or were barely active. I was a member of RangerForums. I used to be visiting RangerForums every day and the forum statistics were showing only my name along with only a few others.

So if you don't add some good and cool stuff to the forums very soon, I've got a feeling that RetroForums will have to be closed down forever because of inactivity. It isn't all just in downloads. Every PR forum I know of has PR Downloads. It's the content on the forums which makes the forums popular and active. If people join to really popular and active forums, they are not going to join the forums which have the same content. So start working on that.

BTW, the dudes on PRE are not wired. They just defend their content (in this case, the downloads), which had been copied from them without their permission. I was one of the very first poeple on PRE who saw that links from RangerForums match those posted on PRE by RedSavageWarrior. RangerForums were also copying Ogre's DL links as well without his knowledge or permission. He even complained about his links being stolen from him on RF. But even his complainant didn't help, because one of the Admins/Mods on the fallen RangerForums edited his complain post, thus making other members think that he did allow his links to be posted on the old RF, although he didn't allow that. Now I'm not starting an argument here, I'm just telling everyone what did I saw and that's the truth.

Yeah your not starting an argument..but.....dude your bringing up stuff thats over a year old. You and I don't make the decisions around here on what special stuff is added..the mods do not have that power snoops does..and snoops is busy..also snoops brought the place....its not up to you or I if it gets shut down...just wait until break at least..the fan base..is of the high school and college age now

stop bickering man this doesnt solve a thing besides theres no way to tells who upload them in the first place so it doesnt matter anymore all that matters is that we are civil with PRE and stuff and they are civil with us if they arent then all hell breaks lose its as simple as that.
