Packaging

The box on this set is suprisingly presentable. Though only card, it is strong and very stable. The print on it is high resolution, and the ranger helmets and the logo are glossed over to make them shiney. The spine design has a sticker saying 'Season1' and has the red and yellow helmets. This implies season 2 will have pink and blue, season 3 black and white. This will make up an overall spine image, very nice, and thought out. There are 5 individual plastic slimline cases within the box, each containing one disc, except for the final which has 2. These each have a defined cover, disc 1, disc 2 etc. They are good quality cases.
Overall, the set is very proffesional, and highly presentable. Easily as good a quality as box's of the most popular series on TV.

Discs are printed with holographic designs, again, proffesional and impressive. Discs appear to be of a high quality and arrived immaculate.

Menu's

The discs each open with a compulsory forgery notice in German, they then go into an unskipable video from the company, CoK that produced the set. This is annoying, but is short and expected on almost all DVDs.
The menu opens up into an initial language selection screen. German selection automatically turns default audio to German on episodes, activates German only extras, and German Menus. The selection of English does the same, but for English. Extras are not accesable on the English menu. The menu's are an attractive chrome style with the MMPR theme in the background and some simple interactive effects. Some money was clearly invested to make these look decent.
On disc 6, I had some problems in which the episode Enter the Lizzinator had been swapped with another, so the episode selection is innacurate. This is a somewhat careless mistake, but not one I am overly fussed about.

Video

The video quality is amazingly high. The best quality encodes on this site are about comparable. Every single episode is of this quality. No logos of any sort are present. The quality is margianlly different from episode to episode, this does not effect viewing pleasure. There is some slight pixelation from frame to frame, on occasion. This is so slight it is hardly worth mentioning, for the age of the video, it is totally understandable.
Each episode has individual opening and closing credits that match the episode. All episode titles and 'to be continued' signs are in german regardless of language settings. All other credits are english.

Audio

Audio is 2 channel, not 5.1 surround. However, the quality is clear and crisp to the average, non critical viewer. It lines up with episodes well. All episodes have full German audio, and all but Green With Evil Part 1, Island Of Illusion part 1 and The spit Flower have english audio. The three that do not, play with german audio on english settings. CoK have promised replacement discs with the correct audio to all european countries.

Overall

I am incredibly pleased with this buy. It reaks of quality and thought, and is a worthy first release for MMPR. It could be improved with the menu error fixing, and the remaining english audio's being added. The addition of Digital remastering and 5.1 audio would be nice also, but are not needed. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints. Its a wicked set.

Go to www.amazon.de for your set. Search Power Rangers.

Thanks for reading my review.

PS- IF A MOD THINKS THIS THREAD IS BETTER PLACED IN MERCHANDISE< PLEASE MOVE IT THERE, I FELT GENERAL DISCUSION WAS MORE APPROPRIATE.

I didn't expect such a high quality product, if i'm being honest. I am now seriously considering buying this too support future releases of S2 and S3. Well done CoK for producing this fine product!

If Germany has produced a Power Ranger Box Set, what does everyone think on the chances of America producing one? From what I've heard in the past Saban hasn't really thought about producing a DVD Box Set, though if this goes over, they could very well change their mind!

I'm liking what I'm seeing from the screenshots though. Very crisp and clear. I've been watching a few Power Ranger VHS's I have and am not very happy with the picture because throughout the years it has become fuzzy, but that can be expected of a VHS. I was thinking about making my own little DVD collection from the tapes I have, but this is looking sooo much better, I probably won't even try to now.

Maybe time to update your knowledge, Saban no longer owns PR, it's a Disney show now.

I'm sorry to not be 'up to snuff' with who own's the Power Ranger rights. It is all crappy anymore. Anything after the Saban series pretty much sucks, but I guess Wild Force isn't that great either. The best place to have ended the series is when Andros destroyed Zordon. Afterall, Power Rangers isn't Power Rangers without Zordon and Alpha. Anyway, this isn't the place/topic for this.

Ok i JUST got my Season 1 DVD's from Amazon Germany (8-25-07). As noted inthe review above there have been some audio issues with three of the episodes... Well i can report to you.. that the DVD set i have has the CORRECTED AUDIO!!!!!!

Green With Evil Pt 1 is in ENGLISH...The Spit Flower is in ENGLISH...and Island of Illusion is in ENGLISH. It had been previously reported those 3 episodes were onl;y presented with the German audio tracks. It looks like they have been fixed. It is also of note that the Disc 6 mislabeling of episodes does still remain. They ARE in the proper order in terms of airdate..but are labeled incorrectly on the DVD menu...

ALSO the DVD slim case for DISCS 1 and 5-6 are clear. Disc 1 has the episodes onthe backside.. and character bios and actor bios onthe inside. Sadly these are ALL in german. 5-6 have the episodes and descriptions just like the other dvd cases.

The extras are only available when you select the German audio tracks... but they are as follows...

DISC 1: A MMPR photo screenshot photo gallery...A German news report about some school kids using a blue screen to recreate a Power Rangers episode with the help of their teacher....A anti-smoking PSA featuring some kids and the Black and Yellow Rangers...and an upcoming DVD release ad for some other PR seasons of TimeForce and SPD (no other MMPR ones shown)

DISC 2: Another MMPR photo gallery of screenshots...a Bulk and Skull PSA in German...and the same dvd ad for an upcoming DVD PR seasons of TimeForce and SPD (no other MMPR ones shown)

Disc 3:Guess what another MMPR screenshot gallery!....Another PSA featuring Billy and the Pink Ranger its about taking responsibility for your actions...Another News report about school kids..the power rangers and the White Ranger WITH Jason David Frank At a GERMAN SCHOOL! He reveals he is only 22 yrs old inthe Q and A witht he school kids.

Disc 4:Photo screenshot gallery....A PSA featuring the Red, Black and White ranger..talking about practicing to get better at a sport or hobby.

Disc 5: Photo gallery.. and another PSA featuring Tommy and Aiesha and a kid littering at a cook out.

Disc 6: Photo gallery...and another PSA featuring bullying and Adam and Rocky...And a trailer for Jetix the station that currently airs PR for Disney...

I find it very interesting that ALL the PSA's come from season 2 and beyond... I hope hey still have bonus content to put on future releases...

Just wanted to share!!!

GO BUY THIS DVD SET!!!! Hopefully we can see the rest of the MMPR series soon!

Probably a stupid question, but do the voices in English match up with the lips of the actors? Or is it just translated over the way their voices move? More or less what I'm trying to get at is, "Are the actor's those of the American show?".
