MIGHTY MORPHIN' POWER RANGERS EPISODE GUIDE --SEASON ONE-- (version 4.4) Compiled by Terri Ann C. Those of you who have been following the growth and development of this monste^H^H^H^H^H^H document know that until now, I had no idea what order these episodes aired in. Well (fanfare, please) -- those days are no more (sort of)! Originally, these were listed in the order that Paul Matthews (paulmatt@ozemail.com.au) gave me. But, a long while later, I discovered that they were in the wrong order. With the help of Jeff Toschlog (toschlog@Houston.geco-prakla.slb.com) and _Sentai Magazine_ (Crowe, David. "The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers". _Sentai Magazine_ April 1994: 6-28.), I am now able to present what *I think* is the correct order of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes for the first season. BTW -- Mega-thanks, Jeff, for putting up with my idjit-cy. You are a real sweetie! Have you read "(Almost) Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Power Rangers But Were too Afraid to Ask" yet? Congratulations! You've just survived a rather lengthy treatise on just what Power Rangers is all about. I'm sure you're just dying to read the real episode guide. Actually, there are a few things that should be mentioned first, like the format: Wr: Writer Di: Director (synopsis) Although most credits stay the same (see (A)EYEWTKATPRBWTATA), there have been a variety of writers and directors, which is why each one is listed with the synopsis. The synopses are rather sketchy, since each episode follows a certain pattern -- Real life problem gets complicated when Rita sends down a new monster, putties are sent to wear down the Rangers in human form, Rangers meet new monster, they fight as normal sized Rangers, grow into huge proportions, then kick butt. Besides, there's always a happy ending, so I don't have to go into too much detail. Abbreviations -- Being the lazy person I am, I'll be using a bunch of abbreviations. These are... (A)EYEWTKATPRBWTATA -- (Almost) Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About The Power Rangers But Were Too Afraid To Ask. The sort-of-a FAQ I wrote about the Power Rangers. BTW -- By the way AG -- Angel Grove AGHS -- Angel Grove High School Dim -- Dimension/Dimensional GR -- Green Ranger MMPR -- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers MZ -- Megazord PR -- Power Rangers YC -- Youth Center, aka Angel Grove's Gym and Juice Bar And a special thank-you goes out to MAXMOUZE@aol.com for his help in cleaning up this document. A Final Word... Although all episodes feature the original five Rangers, only about half feature Tommy, the Green Ranger. Why? Well, most people say it's because in the original series, the Green Ranger was a late arrival who got killed off after a while. This means less footage to hack...I mean, utilize. Personally, I think it's a secret plot to prevent the drooling masses of Tommy/Jason Frank fans from going into mass hysteria by minimizing the amount of air time he gets. But that's just me. Anyway, here's a chart listing which episodes feature Tommy (Jason David Frank). Calamity Kimberly Doomsday, part 2 Enter...the Lizzinator Football Season Fowl Play The Green Candle, parts 1 and 2 Green With Evil, parts 1 through 5 Grumble Bee Gung Ho! Island of Illusion, parts 1 and 2 Itsy Bitsy Spider Life's a Masquerade Mighty Morphin Mutants On Fins and Needles An Oyster Stew Return of an Old Friend, parts 1 and 2 Second Chance The Spit Flower A Star is Born Trick or Treat The Trouble With Shellshock Two Heads are Better than One Wheel of Misfortune The Yolk's on You Enough chatter, let's begin, shall we? 101. "Day of the Dumpster" Wr: Tony Oliver, Shuki Levy Di: Adrian Carr Note: This is the first episode of "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers". Rita is freed from her prison after 10,000 years of captivity. Zordon, her archenemy and the guy who put her there in the first place, "recruits a team of teenagers with attitudes" to do battle with her. Thus, the Power Rangers are born. 102. "High Five" Wr: Steve Kramer Di: Adrian Carr Note: Teleporter/Communicator bands are intro'd Trini must confront her fear of heights in order to save Billy, who is trapped by putties high atop a mountain ledge. After that's over, Rita sends down Bones to trap the PRs in a time warp created by a time device. 103. "Teamwork" Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Robert Hughes Note: Power Weapons are intro'd The girls are trying to close down a waste dump. Rita sends down the Minotaur to destroy the PRs, in hopes of using the earth's pollution to destroy the world. It'll take teamwork and a new set of weapons to destroy this menace. 104. "A Pressing Engagement" Wr: Jeffrey A. Deckman, Ronnie Sperling Di: Adrian Carr Jason tries to break AG's bench press record while Rita hatches yet another diabolical plan with the hopes of total world domination. This time, she tries to "Divide and Conquer" the PRs, separating Jason from the others and making him fight Goldar and King Sphinx by himself. 105. "Different Drum" Wr: Julianne Klemm Di: Jeff Reiner It's difficult for Kim's deaf friend Melissa to live in a hearing world. Not being able to hear can be an advantage, though, especially when the Gnarly Gnome (a monster that uses music to hypnotize and kidnap people) attacks. 106. "Food Fight" Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Robert Hughes The YC is sponsoring an International Food Festival, but Pudgy Pig crashes the party. Somewhere in the middle of this feast, Pudgy manages to swallow the PRs Power Weapons. The Rangers will have to go Mexican if they want to stop this insatiable monster. 107. "I, Eye Guy" Wr: Stewart St. John Di: David Blyth Billy is helping out his brilliant friend Willy with a Virtual Reality science fair project. Rita plans to use the Eye Guy to kidnap Willy and destroy the PRs. 108. "For Whom the Bell Trolls" Wr: Jeffrey A. Deckman, Ronnie Sperling, Stewart St. John Di: Robert Hughes For Hobby Week at AGHS, Trini brings in her collection of rare dolls. Rita steals her favorite, Mr. Ticklesneezer. She then brings him to life with a spell, forcing him to do what he does best -- collect. 109. "Happy Birthday, Zack" Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Jeff Reiner Zack thinks everyone has forgotten his birthday, when in reality, they're planning a surprise party for him. A depressed Zack faces Rita's latest creation, the Nasty Knight. 110. "No Clowning Around" Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: Adrian Carr The gang and Trini's cousin Sylvia are spending a day at the fair. Unfortunately, the place is crawling with clown-impersonating putties. The clowns and their leader, Pineoctopus, turn Sylvia into a cardboard cutout, with similar intentions for the Power Rangers. They'll need to add water and stir on this one. 111. "Power Ranger Punks" Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: David Blyth Baboo drugs the gang's lemonades w/ a magic potion that turns whoever drinks it into the exact opposite of who they are. Kim and Billy are transformed into punks by this, and decide to tear up AGHS. Zordon captures them and commands Alpha to fetch a magic root that will heal them. Meanwhile, the other PRs have their hands full with the Terror Toad. 112. "Peace, Love, and Woe" Wr: Julianne Klemm Di: Robert Hughes It's party time and Billy doesn't have a date...yet. He meets Marge, his perfect match. Everything's going along swimmingly until Madame Woe mistakes Marge for a PR and kidnaps her. Billy uses the combined powers of all the Rangers' Power Coins in order to free Marge and the other PRs from the alternate dim to which Madame Woe has sent them. 113. "Foul Play in the Sky" Wr: Shuki Levy Di: Shuki Levy Kim and her uncle Steve want to spend a relaxing afternoon flying over AG, but Rita has other plans for her. She slips a sleeping potion into Uncle Steve's drink in order to get Kim out of the way. Kim has to land the plane on her own and also fight the Slizzard (with the other PRs). 114. "Dark Warrior" Wr: Jeff Deckman, Ronnie Sperling, Mark Hoffmeier Di: Terry Winkless Trini's famous scientist/martial arts expert uncle has invented a new invisibility potion, a goodie Rita definitely wants for her new monster, Dark Warrior. Billy, his self esteem shot after a run-in with Bulk and Skull, re-enrolls in Jason's karate class. Uncle Howard offers to tutor Billy in the park, where they are attacked by putties. If Uncle Howard doesn't reveal the location of the invisibility potion, Dark Warrior will blow him and most of Angel Grove sky high. Billy has to disable the bomb to which Dark Warrior has tied Uncle Howard, fight an assortment of nasties, AND get his yellow belt all in one afternoon. Whew! 115. "Switching Places" Wr: Shuki Levy, Steve Kramer Di: Jeff Reiner Squatt sabotages Billy's new mind reading machine. When Billy and Kim try it out, their personalities are switched. Rita sends down the Genie to attack AG while the PRs are distracted. 116. "Big Sisters" Wr: Gary Glasberg, Shuki Levy Di: Jeff Reiner Note: RADBUG (Remote Activated DrivingZord for Basic Ultra Geomorphology) is intro'd Kim and Trini are big sisters for the day to Maria, a mischievous little prankster. Rita needs Maria so she can open a magic trunk that holds special power eggs. The Chunky Chicken is called in to kidnap Maria and fight the PRs. 117. "Green with Evil, part 1" Wr: Gary Glasberg, Stewart St. John Di: Robert Hughes Note: This would later be billed in the second season as "Out of Control" There's a new kid in town whose martial arts skills rival Jason's. Rita kidnaps Tommy, the young upstart, and places him under a spell. The Green Ranger is born. GR infiltrates the Command Center, feeds a virus into Alpha 5, and destroys the control panel, cutting off Zordon's window into this dimension. He then defeats the PRs and nearly destroys the MZ. 118. "Green with Evil, part 2" Wr: Tom Wyner, Cheryl Saban, Stewart St. John Di: Robert Hughes Note: This would later be billed in the second season as "Jason's Battle" Billy and Trini are trying to repair Alpha, who's been infected by a virus. Rita gives GR the Sword of Darkness, which has the power of keeping its owner under Rita's spell forever. The gang regroups while Billy tries to repair the control panel. Jason is warped into Rita's Dark Dungeon, where he must face Goldar to get his Power Morpher back. 119. "Green with Evil, part 3" Wr: Mark Ryan, Stewart St. John Di: Robert Hughes Note: Scorpina is intro'd This would later be billed in the second season as "The Rescue" With Jason still trapped, Rita calls on Scorpina to defeat the remaining PRs. The gang split up to find Jason, who now has to battle the GR to break free. Billy is successful in repairing the control panel and restoring communications. He locks on to Jason's signal and warps him out of the Dungeon just in the nick of time. They then fight Scorpina and Goldar, while Rita plans her final attack. 120. "Green with Evil, part 4" Wr: Cindy McKay, Stewart St. John Di: Robert Hughes Note: This would be later billed in the second season as "Eclipsing Megazord" Goldar is on a rampage, and our heroes are called into battle again. A power surge causes the entire morphing grid to shut down, preventing the gang from morphing. Billy hot wires the control panel, regaining power. Alpha also manages to regain contact w/ Zordon, but only for a moment. GR breaks into the Command Center, shuts down Alpha and destroys Zordon's communications link with this dim. Luckily, Alpha's back up systems kick in and he manages to trap the GR in a force field. The MZ is double teamed by Scorpina and Goldar as Rita uses the moon to create a solar eclipse. GR breaks free and joins in the fight. Outnumbered and without its solar energy supply, the MZ is destroyed. The one ray of hope (?) is that GR's identity is finally revealed to the PRs. 121. "Green with Evil, part 5" Wr: Gary Glasburg, Stewart St. John Di: Robert Hughes Note: MegaDragonzord (aka Dragonzord in Battle Mode) and Power Staff are intro'd. This would be later billed in the second season as "Breaking the Spell" With Zordon out of touch and the MZ destroyed, Earth is ready for the taking. The gang split up and look for Tommy, with hopes of breaking Rita's spell. Rita calls forth the Dragonzord, giving the Dragon Dagger (and control of the Dragonzord) to GR. Alpha again reestablishes contact w/ Zordon, who resurrects the Zords. The Zords defeat Dragonzord, and Jason destroys the Sword of Darkness, breaking Rita's hold over Tommy. Tommy then joins the PRs. 122. "The Trouble with Shellshock" Wr: Stewart St. John, Julianne Klemm Di: David Blyth Baboo and Squatt try their hand at monster making and come up with Shellshock, a combination turtle, traffic light, and sporting goods store monster. Shellshock rudely interrupts the PRs basketball game and places them under various spells. At least he can't complain about anyone not bringing him flowers anymore. 123. "Itsy Bitsy Spider" Wr: Steve Kramer Di: Robert Hughes Billy and Trini are collecting signatures to save the Forest Spirit Statue, which is believed to protect the forest from nasty bugs. Rita steals the statue and forges a duplicate, within which she hides her Slimy Spider and her sleeping powder moths. The moths put Zack's Hip Hop Kido class to sleep. Zack must face his fear of bugs if he and the PRs are going to defeat the Spider. 124. "The Spit Flower" Wr: Peggy Nicoll Di: David Blyth Kim's parade float model is trashed when putties invade the YC. Her day gets worse when Rita sends down the Spit Flower, a monster that spits flesh-eating blossoms. The PRs must stop the Spit Flower before it gobbles up all the flowers for the parade. 125. "Gung Ho!" Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: Robert Hughes Note: Titanus is intro'd Jason and Tommy can't seem to get the teamwork together for an upcoming Team Ninja Competition. Meanwhile, Rita is in the process of creating virtually indestructible Super Putties from the Ball O' Putty(tm) she mined in "Life's a Masquerade". Zordon sends Jason and Tommy on a quest for new weapons, but they must get past Titanus. The only way to do that is through a little teamwork. 126. "Life's a Masquerade" Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Robert Hughes AG's costume party is crashed by Rita's Frankenstein monster. This is only a distraction from her real purpose -- to mine a special clay with which she can create nearly indestructible Super Putties. 127. "Wheel of Misfortune" Wr: Mark Ryan, Cheryl Saban Di: Terence H. Winkless AGHS's upcoming school play features a spinning wheel loaned to Kim by her grandmother. Rita steals this wheel and casts a spell on it, causing it to destroy anything it touches. She also sends down Goldar and Scorpina as backups before the curtain rises. 128. "Island of Illusion, part 1" Wr: Shuki Levy, Chris Schoon Di: Terence H. Winkless Zack's getting cold feet about an upcoming dance contest. Rita uses his self doubt to her advantage by sending the team to the Island of Illusion (with Lokar and Mutitis' help), where the only other humanoid inhabitant is a pipe playing dwarf named Quagmire. 129. "Island of Illusion, part 2" Wr: Stewart St. John, Chris Schoon, Shuki Levy Di: Terence H. Winkless Zack's fading fast and it seems like no one can help him. Quagmire finally reveals that self confidence is the key to stop the fading. One by one, each Ranger deals with his/her own self doubts. They escape the island and beat up Lokar and Mutitis. 130. "The Rockstar" Wr: Peggy Nicoll Di: Terence H. Winkless Jason and his cousin Jeremy, while spending some quality time on the beach, discover a magic map that leads to the Mirror of Destruction. Rita sends down Scorpina and the Rockstar to pry the map and mirror from Jason and Jeremy's hands. 131. "A Star is Born" Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Terence H. Winkless While the gang is spending a day at the beach, Tommy tries out for a part in a commercial. The PRs' day off is cut short when Scorpina's pet worm traps them in a cocoon. When they break free from that, their next challenge is Babe Ruthless. And THEN, they have to deal with the worm again. Fun. 132. "Calamity Kimberly" Wr: Tom Wyner, Julianne Klemm Di: Terence H. Winkless Kim is having the ultimate bad day. The fact that she's trapped in a bottle by the Samurai Fan Man doesn't help things much. If the Rangers don't get her out of the bottle, she and the dim she's warped into will fade out of existence. 133. "The Yolk's on You" Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Terence H. Winkless AGHS's talent show happens to be on the same day as Rita's birthday. To surprise her, Finster sends down Fang. Goldar and crew tag along to help Fang trash the city, but problems arise when Squatt and Baboo eat Fang's prized Gooney Bird Eggs. Goldar and Rita use Pavlovian mind tricks to "egg him on" and destroy the Rangers. 134. "The Green Candle, part 1" Wr: Mark McKain, Stewart St. John Di: Robert Hughes Tommy doesn't know the best way to ask Kim out to the dance, but that's the least of his problems. Goldar warps Tommy into the Dark Dungeon. In it burns a green candle that is slowly sucking away Tommy's powers. He must either serve Rita or lose his powers forever. Then Rita sends down the Cyclops, which can assume any form it wills, to destroy AG. 135. "The Green Candle, part 2" Wr: Gary Glasberg, Stewart St. John Di: Robert Hughes Jason volunteers to enter the Dark Dungeon to retrieve the Green Candle. Meanwhile, Cyclops poses as the Dragonzord and wrecks the city, forcing Tommy to go into battle. Tommy is nearly defeated and Jason must abort his mission to save his friend. Unfortunately, the candle flame burns out. Tommy surrenders his Power Coin and weapons to Jason to keep Rita from gaining his GR powers. He also loses his status as a Power Ranger. The only bright note is that he and Kim finally reveal their feelings for each other. 136. "Birds of a Feather" Wr: Julianne Klemm Di: Robert Hughes Zack is preparing one of his students for an upcoming karate competition, but is unexpectedly pulled away when Rita sends down the Hatchasaurus to destroy the city. The PRs have to get inside the Hatchasaurus and destroy its command center, Cardiotron. 137. "Clean Up Club" Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: Terence H. Winkless Trini's video project on pollution in AG inspires the gang to start up the "Clean Up Club" -- a club dedicated to cleaning up and protecting the environment. While cleaning up the litter in AG Park, the gang are attacked by the Polluticorn, a monster Rita creates so she can use pollution to destroy Earth. 138. "A Bad Reflection on You" Wr: Peggy Nicoll Di: Robert Hughes Rita sends down a special group of putties created by the Twin Man to impersonate the gang (both in human and morphed forms). Their mission -- to give the PRs a bad name. Their antics land the real Rangers in detention, out of which our heroes must escape if they want to stop the imposters from trashing the city and their reputation. 139. "Doomsday, part 1" Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Terence H. Winkless AG has declared the day "Power Rangers Day". During the celebration, the townspeople are warped into another dim and Cyclopsis is sent to do battle with the PRs. When Cyclopsis is destroyed, Rita goes into a fit of rage and buries Titanus. She then calls Lokar forth to resurrect Cyclopsis. 140. "Doomsday, part 2" Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Terence H. Winkless The PRs risk destroying the Zords when they face Cyclopsis and Lokar at half power. Cyclopsis does some serious slicing and dicing and both Megazord and Dragonzord are nearly destroyed. A change of strategy and some major morphing is what it'll take to defeat Cyclopsis and free AG's citizens. 141. "Rita's Seed of Evil" Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Robert Hughes Our heroes are planting saplings in the park, inspiring Rita to plant the Octoplant seed. When fully grown, the plant's tentacles can wrap around the world and destroy it. Its bloom also forms the vain Octoplant. 142. "A Pig Surprise" Wr: Shuki Levy, Douglas Sloan Di: Robert Hughes The gang are giving up stray animals for adoption when an elderly lady asks them to find a new home for her pet pig. Little do they know that this pig is none other than Pudgy Pig in disguise. But, Pudgy is actually a softie at heart, and the PRs must defeat Goldar and reverse Rita's spell so that Pudgy can be with his...um, sweetie. 143. "Something Fishy" Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Robert Hughes When Jason, Zack, and Trini go scuba diving, Kim and Billy (who has a severe dislike of fish stemming from a traumatic biting incident he had as a child) decide an afternoon on dry land is more to their liking. They are attacked while picnicking in the park by putties. Once the gang are reunited, they face the Toxic Goo Fish. 144. "Lions and Blizzards" Wr: Shell Danielson Di: Robert Hughes The gang win the Noble Lion trophy at the Oddball Games. It mysteriously disappears, and Bulk and Skull, who had their eyes on the trophy, are automatically blamed. Rita uses the trophy to create Gotan, a Lion-Goat who can control freezing types of weather. Good one, Rita -- I always send an ice monster when I want to defeat a Mastodon. 145. "Crystal of Nightmares" Wr: Shuki Levy, Douglas Sloan Di: Robert Hughes With a big test looming, the gang go to a mountain resort owned by Billy's uncle for some serious study time. Goldar uses the Crystal of Nightmares to make the PRs dream bad dreams and lose their self confidence. 146. "To Flea or Not to Flea" Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Terence H. Winkless The YC is in danger of going out of business. The team try to collect donations to save it, but to no avail. Jason finds a stray dog, which Rita uses to get her Fighting Flea near the PRs. The Flea carries a nasty virus which causes an uncontrollable itch all over its victim. It's later revealed that there's a reward for the lost dog, and the money is used to save the YC. 147. "Reign of the Jellyfish" Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Terence H. Winkless AGHS is collecting items for a time capsule that will be buried in AG Park. Rita feels her image should be included as well, so she sends down Baboo and Squatt to steal the capsule. At the same time, she sends down the Jellyfish to warp the PRs into another dim and destroy AG. 148. "Plague of the Mantis" Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: Terence H. Winkless Trini is having a difficult time trying to master a new Praying Mantis technique. Rita uses this to her advantage by sending the Mantis to challenge Trini and her new skills. 149. "Return of an Old Friend, part 1" Wr: Shell Danielson Di: Worth Keeter It's Parents' Day at AG. Rita sends the Dramomonster to hypnotize the parents and warp them into another dim. She then puts Billy under a spell and uses him to return the Dragon Dagger to her. Goldar tricks the PRs into giving up their coins in exchange for their parents' lives. Only 1 coin remains -- Can Tommy save the day? 150. "Return of an Old Friend, part 2" Wr: Shell Danielson Di: Worth Keeter Tommy is brought back to the Command Center and agrees to help save AGHS's parents. But, he can't do anything without his powers. Zordon infuses Tommy w/ some of his own energy, giving him temporary powers. Tommy will have to go through Goldar and Scorpina before he can get the Power Coins. He succeeds, but both he and Zordon are nearly lost in the process. The Rangers then defeat the Dramomonster to free their parents. 151. "Grumble Bee" Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: John Stewart Billy is shocked when he gets his first B -- ever. He and Trini put in extra study time while the rest of the gang shoot some hoops. Rita sends down putties to trap Zack, Kim, and Jason in an unbreakable rope. Trini and Billy must face the Grumble Bee on their own to free their friends. 152. "Two Heads are Better than One" Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: John Stewart Jason and Tommy are teaching a self defense course to the moms of AG. Their main message -- Two heads are better than one. Rita is inspired by this and sends down a Two Headed Parrot monster. With twice the intelligence, the Parrot is a formidable enemy. It takes teamwork and a juicy Pamango to defeat this feathered fiend. 153. "Fowl Play" Wr: Peggy Nicoll Di: John Stewart Zack puts on a magic show to entertain some kids (and impress Angela). Rita weaves some magic of her own and sends down the Peckster to trash the PRs. 154. "Trick or Treat" Wr: Danny Sarnoff, Ellen Sarnoff Di: Worth Keeter Note: Power Blaster is referred to as "Mega-Blaster" in this episode. Kim and Skull are invited to be guests on the game show "Trick or Treat". Kim comes close to winning before she's called into action. This time, it's the Pumpkin Rapper, a pumpkin that moonlights as a (very bad) rapper. 155. "Second Chance" Wr: Mark Litton Di: Worth Keeter Zack and Jason want to help their friend Roger make the junior soccer team. They're attacked in the park by the Soccadillo. After the obligatory stock footage battle, Ernie (who picked the team in the first place) forms 2 teams so that everyone can play. 156. "On Fins and Needles" Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Worth Keeter Jason and Tommy are teaching free karate classes at the YC. Rita's getting sick of their teamwork, so she uses the Slippery Shark to cast a spell on them. When the two of them touch the Shark's boomerang weapon, they automatically become enemies. Their hatred for each other grows so strong that they nearly have it out in an after-school fight. The only way to break the spell is to defeat the Shark through teamwork. 157. "Enter...the Lizzinator" Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Worth Keeter Kim's cousin Kelly is having a difficult time trying out for the junior high cheerleading squad. Things get even worse when Rita kidnaps Kelly and sends down the Lizzinator to destroy AG. Kelly uses her cheerleading skills (?) to bore/annoy/tire out her captors while the PRs defeat the Lizzinator. 158. "Football Season" Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Terence H. Winkless The boys are getting ready for football tryouts, but Tommy seems to be suffering from a major case of self doubt. Rita sends down the Rhinoblaster and a team of football-playing putties to do battle with the PRs. When the PRs are swept into a Multi-Dim vortex, it's up to Tommy to save the gang (Btw, he makes the team). 159. "Mighty Morphin' Mutants" Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Terence H. Winkless Tommy has a little problem with remembering things these days. While the rest of the team try their best to help him out, Goldar trains a group of putties to impersonate the Rangers. Rita chooses Cmdr. Crayfish to lead the Mutant Rangers. Zordon creates new and improved Power Weapons (which look amazingly like the old ones) so that the PRs can destroy these imposters. 160. "An Oyster Stew" Wr: Shell Danielson Di: Terence H. Winkless Zack is trying to find the perfect birthday gift for Angela. He decides on pearl earrings and a double date with Kim and Tommy at AG's fanciest French restaurant (even if it is a bit out of his budget). Rita calls on the Ecocyte Pearl to free the Oysterizer and pollute the ocean. The Oysterizer creates a set of pearl earrings out of his Pearls of Stillness (which paralyzes everyone within a close distance of the wearer) and gives them to Zack, who in turn gives them to Angela. The Oysterizer is defeated, Zack learns that money isn't the way to a girl's heart, and the show ends with Zack serenading Angela. AND NOW A MESSAGE FROM THE POWER RANGERS... The "morality lesson of the day" portion of the show -- I know it's my favorite. Only a few of these have titles...the rest are ones I made up. The ones that do have titles have a (*) next to them (no comments from the peanut gallery about Bulk and Mexican food). (*) Confidence Zack's student (see 136. "Birds of a Feather") is trying to master a difficult karate move. Unfortunately, his bottom becomes a close aquaintance of the mat. Bulk and Skull make things worse by telling him how worthless he is. Luckily, the Rangers save the day when they instill a little self confidence in the youngster. Don't Fight over Spilled Power Drinks Oops...at least that milk shake doesn't clash with your new sneakers, boys. Two kids literally run in to each other, and the milkshakes start flying. Their friends (who, ironically, are nice and dry) try to get the first two boys to fight. Billy and Jason pull the second pair out, and (using Billy's way cool t.v. zapper) show them that if they hadn't egged the first two boys on, the situation could've been handled peacefully. The moral of this story -- invest in way cool t.v. zappers. Little Brother So sweet, you just want to hug them and kiss them and squeeze them 'til the DIE! Little brothers...thank God I never had them. Unfortunately, one little girl is stuck with hers, more or less for the rest of her life. Zack and Jason show her how to cool off before biting his head off after he breaks yet another one of her toys. Making Friends out of Enemies Trini and a "probably unpaid extra who never had a real acting job, unless, of course, he was a relative of one of the producers, in which case he probably still didn't get paid" are practicing in the gym. A not-too-cheery bully comes in and tries to rough up Jason. Why doesn't Jason fight back? Well, obviously, he's realized that said antagonist has repressed feelings of anger, probably stemming from some form of trauma experienced within his recent past, resulting in a projection of said feelings onto a totally unrelated object (I knew those psych classes would come in handy one day). Anyway, Trini points out that the best way to stop an enemy is to make friends with them, as Jason and his new friend walk off into the sunset. Mistaken Identity Oh no! It's the attack of the Mighty Morphin WAAAAAAAAAY low budget (so low budget they're using paper masks) Junior Rangers. Three kids were tossing a ball around in the gym when it bounced off into the hallway. Moments later, a fourth kid came out, carrying what looks to be their ball. The previously mentioned MMWLB(slbtupm)JR "morph" and start a fight. A morphed Billy and Kimberly stop it before things get to serious, and explain why fighting is never a way to stop problems (so why do THEY fight, hmmm, Hmmmm, HMMMMM?). (*) Respect Wouldn't the world be fine and dandy if everyone were an exact copy of Norm? Excuse me while I hurl. Kim and Jason give Norm, an annoying little runt who thinks he's better than anyone else, a taste of his own medicine when they subject him to an entire Juice Bar full of "Norms". Scary thought...makes me wanna' pull my hair out screaming bloody murder and...oh wait, that's my reaction when there aren't enough Billy scenes in a particular episode. Never mind. (*) Peer Pressure Now, what would a day in school be like without the hourly "Let's gang up on some poor schmuck"-fest. Things look bleak for the class underdog -- it seems like a bunch of other kids want to beat up on him for no particular reason. But, not everyone in the gang is really up to a massacre today...especially if the only reason for doing it is...well, everyone else is. Thanks to yet another nifty little device designed by you-know-who (sigh!), the youth of tomorrow are taught yet another lesson in non-conformity (so, do they want these kids to conform to non-conformity?). (*) Reality Check This is a test. This is a test of the Emergency Reality Check System. This is a test to see how far I can go into this description without making any mention of how gorgeous Billy was in this particular...oops. Oh well. Kim and Billy try to demonstrate that what the youngsters see on t.v. is completely different from the real world, and that they shouldn't emulate what they see on t.v. If we're talking about reality, why do they still use their character names? Special Effects Ahhh, another Billy PSA. In this one, the gang show how some of the special effects on the show are done. I 'spose they don't want anyone out there worrying about their favorite Ranger when they're turned into a cardboard cut-out. BTW, this is the only PSA so far to feature the Alpha and the Command Center. I'm sure no one wanted to know that. (*) Teamwork Kim and Zack are playing a little basketball against a group of kids. When Kim scores, the other team immediately start to fight among themselves (geez, can't we all just get along?). Well, with a little...you guessed it...teamwork, our pint-sized heroes whip major Ranger butt. ========== And that's it!! Comments? Questions? Corrections? Did this guide suck major Gooney Bird Eggs, or was it almost bearable? Let me know, I'd love to hear from you. Besides, my mailbox is starting to feel kinda' lonely. Thanks go out to everyone involved in the creation (and spell checking) of this guide. Special thanks go out to anyone who has anything to do with MMPR (especially a certain blue spandex-clad hunk). Smile!
