An Interview with Blake Foster from the Summer 97 issue of Fox Totally Kids Magazine What's Black and Blue and can do five jump spinning heel kicks in a row? A Turbo Sports jock! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You know Blake Foster as the new Blue Power Ranger on Turbo. What you don't know is that he's a black belt in Tang Soo Do - Korean style karate. He started martial arts when he was four and his whole family is into it. The Fosters even have a mat set up to train at home! Blake is a basketball fanatic too. It's not easy to find time to play, what with karate training, school, and filming, but when we caught up with him, the conversation naturally turned to...SPORTS! TFK: If you could compete in any three sports in the Olympics, what would they be? BF: I would love that! I would pick basketball, karate, and gymnastics. TFK: What's your fave team? BF: Chicago Bulls! I can tell you anything you want to know about Michael Jordan! TFK: What sports award would you most like to win? BF: I like all the rings.. basketball rings, football rings. They're cool. TFK: What's next on your personal "to do" dream list? [Now that you've achieved Blue Ranger-ness!] BF: Get into college at UCLA and play college basketball,,, and maybe get drafted! TFK: What's your fave scene in the Power Rangers Turbo movie? BF: The really cool scene fighting the Putra Pods on the ghost ship. I did this swashbuckling thing - grabbing a rope and swinging in to fight them. That was great! TFK: Is Tommy [Jason David Frank] really that good at karate? BF: YES! He can do twenty jump spinning heel kicks in a row. I can do about five. He's really good. TFK: What's the funniest thing that happened with the Power Rangers? BF: I was riding an elevator when Johnny Bosch [Green Ranger] started singing the Mission: Impossible theme and climbing up the railing of the elevator. He tried to remove the grill on the ceiling - it was hilarious. TFK: What's your best sports moment? BF: When I got my black belt. The test lasts five hours. I trained about three months for the test. No mistakes are allowed. You have to break boards and fight four people at one time!
