While the 18-year-old Will Aton would describe himself as a freelance item retrieval expert, some others would call him nothing more than a cat burgler. His unique brand of skill is often employed by Governments, industry and private individuals. It was one such individual that led to Will's recruitment into Operation Overdrive.

Having been hired to break into a vault by Andrew Hartford, Will found a holographic recording that revealed to him that he had just completed a job interview. Afterwards, Will was called to Andrew Hartford's private home, and offered the position of Black Overdrive Ranger.

The streetwise thief was initially very skeptical of the entire operation, and refused the offer. Only when he was about to stride through the door did he change his mind, when the spirit of Guardian Knight appeared in front of him. The Knight persuaded Will to stay, revealing that Operation Overdrive was the worlds only hope against Moltor and Flurious.

Will's loner nature often causes friction amongst the team. Used to working alone, Will finds himself jumping into situations on his own under the impression that he'll never need any help. Will's light-fingered skills are augmented by the genetic manipulation he received, which gained him telescopic vision and ultra-sensitive hearing.

As the Black Overdrive Ranger, Will controls the Speed Driver, and wields the powerful Drive Slammer.
