A keen skateboarding enthusiast, and student of the Wind Ninja Academy in Blue Bay Harbor. Initially a failing student, Shane was spared the kidnapping the befell the rest of the students due to the fact that he, Tori, and Dustin were late for training. Shane and his friends arrived on the scene to find the school destroyed, with Cam Watanobe burried in the wreckage. Cam then took Shane and the others to Ninja Ops, a secret hideout where his father was waiting.

Shane became the Red Wind Ranger, the leader of the Wind Power Ranger team. To begin, Shane lacked proper leadship skills. He often found that he preferred to engage in combat on his own, until he learned that he couldent handle every situation on his own, and actually needed his two team-members. This theme continued, however, and Shane's ego once again showed when Dustin foiled a robbery as the Yellow Ranger. Shane was frustrated by Dustins newfound popularity, and cautioned Dustin about repeating the mistakes that he himself had made. Shane was able to bring Dustin back down to earth, and his position as leader was reasserted.

When Shane was a young child, he had an experience in which he freed an alien lifeform trapped in the forrest. As he was only a young boy at the time, the memory quickly subsided, and he grew up beleiving it to be nothing more than a dream. Years later, the memory of the experience resurfaced, and caused Shane several sleepless nights. He decided to investigate, and found himself drawn to that same spot in the woods. Upon searching the forrest, he soon encountered the alien again, which revealed itself to be a young woman named Skyla. Skyla was host to an incredible power, and as such, was being hunted by the bounty hunter Vexacus, who wanted the powers for himself. After protecting Skyla from Vexacus, Skyla revealed to Shane that she only had a short time left in her current form, and she was due to evolve to a higher state of being. One of her last acts was to grant her power to Shane, which manifested in the form of his new Battilizer.

During the final battle of Blue Bay Harbor, a powerless Shane combined his strength with the rest of the team in order to knock Lothor into the Abyss of Evil. With Lothor gone, the students rescued, and Sensei back to human form, everything was back to normal. Shane graduated from the Wind Ninja Academy, and was ushered in, in his new position as a Sensei to a new generation of Wind Ninja students.

As the Red Ranger, Shane has acces to many weapons, such as his Ninja Sword, Hawk Blaster, and Glider. In addition, he also has access to a Tsunami Cycle and Battilizer. Like the other Rangers, he also has a Wind Zord.
