Trey was a Triforian from the Planet Triforia, and the original Gold Ranger. Triforians are a race of beings composes of three entities, harmoniously merged as one being.
He appeared at random to help the Zeo Rangers fight the machine empire, never revealing his true identity until he was injured. His three parts were out of balance, and he temporarily transferred the Ranger powers to Jason.
